I paid 4 something a quart for it in Florida, but I know of some people that have spent more.

Try the mock recipe: http://forum.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=597074&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0

Automatik2...that looks so good! It sure makes a huge piece of cake.

Yes ! If your talking about the pink and white carton of liquid not the prewhipped! Thats the only one I use. I get it for $4.50 or less on sale but its always some where between that and $6.00 a carton ( 32oz ) Depends on your area !

I use two cups of the liquid (measured before whipping of course) to fill and ice 2 dozen cuppies, so that should give you a basic idea. That's just a basic swirl... it takes more if you really want thick icing.

I pay $5.45 per quart when I get it. Just FYI. And I'm in the midwest.

Any opinions on a pumkin spice cake, oatmeal cookie and cream cheese frosting? Think that the spices of the pumpkin and oatmeal cookie will be to overwhelming? Or should I just do a sugar cookie? Maybe Ill do both!

If you want the bettercream a little thicker add marshmallow cream. Last thanksgiving I added instant (pumpkin pie pudding)(they only sell it at thanksgiving) with it and piped them in mini pie shells taste like pumpkin pie so good

on sunday, i am going to be doing a diaper bag cake with 2 9x13's cut in half and stacked. one cake is white, so i'd do a sugar cookie, and the other is a kahlua fudge cake,s o i'll probably go with peanut butter...

HERE'S MY QUESTION: do you think that stability will be an issue if i do this cookie addition?

IMHO, the cookie layer ads stability to the cake since it is a solid/more dense layer. By the way your cake sounds delish icon_biggrin.gif

RAQUEL!!! Hey girl! I just realized today is Friday and we were supposed to get together. CRAP! Emailing you now icon_smile.gif

I agree, I think the cookie would add stability. But, since I've never done it, I cant wait to hear how it turns out icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to try a cookie in the middle. I've made mock cookie dough filling, but never thought of putting an actual cookie in the middle. Now I'd be combining two of my favorite things as one!

LOVE IT!! TALK ABOUT RICH!! I made this for my birthday cake...I love chocolate and peanut butter!!

2 9" chocolate cakes (torted)
Peanut Butter SMBC
2 Peanut butter cookies
Chocolate SMBC

Chocolate Cake
PB SMBC
PB cookie
PB SMBC
Chocolate Cake
PB SMBC
Chocolate Cake
PB SMBC
PB cookie
PB SMBC
Chocolate Cake
Covered in Chocolate SMBC

DELISH!! Everyone thought this was my best cake yet!! (I'm still a newbie...thanks for all the great recipes and tips!!)

The cookie was perfect...350F for 12min...one pouch split between two 9" pans. The cake was definitely tall, but I LOVE tall cakes. The cookie did give it more stability IMHO. I didn't dowel it and it is still holding up well today (made it yesterday).

Great idea!! I never would have paired cookie and cake, but it was a definite keeper. Now my sister wants it for her birthday!! Thanks again!!

Choc and banana go well together, but being family do they love oatmeal flavor ?Maybe you can ask them what flavor combo they prefer?

i tried it this weekend. vanilla cake with vanilla buttercreama and a sugar cookie in the middle.
i wasnt too thrilled.
the cookie made it a tad bit harder to cut and also i didnt like the texture.

maybe its me, but the cookie was too hard to be in the middle of the cake.

saramachen,
I think both types would be so yummy in the middle. I think you could also try a sugar cookie, choc. chip cookie, or a snickerdoodle would taste yummy too! Good luck!

Thanks guys! But hey, can't take the credit for it, cuz it was your cookie idea! The cake was a 9" round and about 6" tall. The layers don't look very pretty because I didn't level them (in a hurry) and since it was my cake, it wasn't a biggie for me. Also, I only used jkalman's 5 egg SMBC for the filling between everything, so I think it could have used more to make the layers "prettier".

Anyway, it was a hit with everybody and I loved it! Happy Birthday to me!!

Thanks again for a great idea. Next on the list, the sugar cookie...although the oatmeal cookie has me intrigued! icon_wink.gif

I did it, I did it! I made a candy cake with a cookie layer today for one of the guys at work and people were raving, truely raving about it!! I myself found it all a tad sweet for my taste, but I can not believe how excited people got about this cake, thank you so much for all of the ideas and a big thank you to Raquel1 for starting the trend icon_smile.gif
I posted a collage and more details in my photos, but here's an inside shot, I did a single layer torted and layered cake, bettercream, cookie, bettercream, cake, awesome!! You guys are the best!

Andpotts: You are so welcome! It looks great and I'm so happy that the idea has worked so well for so many, it is a good one for the arsenal icon_biggrin.gif I myself am working right now on someone else's great idea, the cake balls. I wish I knew who came up with this one...I think I made them too big, it takes @ 3 bites and they seem a bit "wet" inside, but they are just my first try. So many ideas so little time icon_biggrin.gif

Raquel, I definitely like the cake balls a little smaller because they are so rich. That is a super fun idea though, isn't it? I've gotten a lot of people hooked on those! icon_twisted.gif My sister will do tricks like a trained puppy for lemon or lime ones covered in white chocolate. It's like her Scooby Snacks!! icon_lol.gif

This is how I buy it at Smart&Final in the frozen dessert section...
I actually prefer Frostin Pride for the vanilla flavor.

Hi Melvira btw like everyone else that tries your roller idea I love it, thanks!
Thank goodness I didn't dip all the balls I made (german choc. w/choc icing, can we say rich!) so I left them overnight in the fridge and I'll cut a bit off of each one to make them smaller. I'm going to try a lemon cake w/lemon icing covered in white choc. Scooby Snacks! I love it icon_biggrin.gif
