I have noticed on the last couple of episodes of Ace of Cakes that when stacking cakes they have been using something that looks like wide straws that they could cut with scissors. Anyone, have any idea what or where I can get them besides having my kids eat every giant Pixie Stick in sight icon_lol.gif

Those are bubble tea straws. You can google for suppliers (I know amazon.com has these). I've never seen these in any local stores in my area.

if you've got an asian supermarket, they carry them for like 2-3 bucks a pack and the pack has a lot. if you dont have an asian supermarket, you can find them online....i use them all the time to stack since they are so easy to cut.

You can get these at a local Panera Bread... it is what they use for their lemonade.

I was at Panera yesterday, and saw them and I thought they looked like the straws, but didn't really think they were. Thanks.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: please do not take the ones from panera.

EVERYONE is struggling right now in this economy. my husband sells food service paper products for the largest supplier of such. we had to go into a very well known bread company, similar to panera, the other day to speak with the manager...they were out of almost every paper product. the reason why? they couldn't afford to pay for the past due shipments, so they had been refused any further shipments until payment was made.

think about it this way...what if only 10% of the people on cake central took 10 straws from their local panera? quite a big dent!

I wasn't going to steal them, I was going to ask where they got them. By the way, I went be the Asian market and they usually do carry them, but were out today.

i don't mean to be harsh, but i've seen many many times on here where people talked about raiding mcdonalds for their straws. it really bothers me, cause those are usually the same people who bitch about the price of their supplies.

that wasn't aimed at you, just a plea to the masses.

Our Panera Bread keeps them behind the counter... remember that in food service you must be concerned with cross contamination. I cannot believe that any of us on Cake Central would ever take something without paying for it. We all know the cost of being in business.

The only reason I told you all about them was that everyone said that they had not seen them. I am sure a manager would sell you some from his stash or at least give you the name of a local supplier.

I ordered mine from Amazon, and they were very quick with delivery.
