sorry, let me try and make this larger!
soooo cute. would you mind sharing how you made it
The baby rump is a 12 inch cake on the base. The baby butt is a half ball pan, the legs were stacked cake scraps (you can use what is cut off when you level the 12 inch base.) and then the feet are rice krispy treats. I covered the butt completely in white fondant, then did the legs and feet, put it together, then added some ruffle for the diaper. The key to the feet is to keep the fondant thick on the rice krispy treats. Just drape some rolled out fondant over the baby butt.
Around the bath tub are those wafer stick cookies- I don't know the exact name- you can buy them at the dollar store, Target, Walmart, grocery store, etc.
I did a baby shower last weekend and really wanted to do a open book cake that was nursery rhyme themed, but it wasn't what they wanted. I think it would be sweet.
. . . this one's kinda cute . . . http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1201981
The two most recent baby shower cakes that I made that got some serious compliments on were these two:
How did you get the 2nd wilton pan off or was it on it's own board?

Yes, it was on its own board and I put four supporting posts under the four corners. It came off really clean.

Thanks! So the ladies' didn't mind you taking off the top cake? Or was your icing really pretty underneath? I'm confused.
I'd eat it any way you look at it!

The top surface (of the bottom cake) was just frosted smooth. Like the top of your heart shaped, red velvet cake . . . I just looked at your photos so that I could liken what I did on that cake. The people at that baby shower were mixed - men and women. None of them let out a gasp or said something like "yuck" when I removed the cake. I was quick, though, to remove that top cake and immediately remove my stabilizing posts, and then quickly smooth over the icing in the areas where the posts were removed. I'm attaching a second view of that cake that shows how I purposely cut the board slightly larger than the buggy. Then when I put the posts in the bottom, I intentionally made sure that there was about a 1/2" space for me to be able to easily grab that cake and gracefully take it off. After cutting and serving the bottom cake, I quietly put the top cake in an extra cake box that I brought for the couple to take home.
Oooooohhhhh, I get it! That's just a brilliant idea! It makes sense, too, to have the cake up "higher" on the top!
Wow, I never would've thought of that at all!
edit to add: That's just way cool. I took another look at the buggy cake. Wow, that's just an awesome way to do this. That's why you are an excellent decorator!
