attaching royal icing decorations

Thread Starter
I just made a bunch of royal icing decorations for a fire truck cake and I have a few questions:

1. How do I best attach the decorations to the buttercream?

2. When can I attach them without risk of them breaking down?

Thanks!

A lil buttercream or Royal Icing would work.. Make sure they are dry before removing them from the wax paper, or saran wrap...

O-kay. They are dry, but I thought I remembered reading something about how the butter (grease) in buttercream would melt the sugar in the royal after a certain amount of time. SHould I wait to attach them until just before the party, or is it o-kay to do ahead of time (tonight ? for party tomorrow?)

Thanks!

The thinner the deco the more chance of it softening a bit once on b'cream but they will NOT melt into a puddle.
Certainly you can add them tonight. Attach them by piping a open circle of b'cream. If they are long mayb e need 2 rings.
