I have an order for 60 cupcakes for a baby shower. They want the baby's mongram on each cupcake. What is the best way to do this? I'm not sure if it would be easier to pipe it directly on the cupcake or put the mongram on something and this stick it in the frosting to make it stand up. I would like for it to look more 3d since they will be on the tall tier stand.
Any ideas?
If i was doing them I would want them to stand up . you could doe either chocolate, royal or gumpaste plaques with piped monogram.
Martha Stewart Weddings magazine did some simple monogram cupcakes years ago by just using the letter cutters on gumpaste (or fondant?). They stood it upright into a cupcake. Here's pics of some variations of the idea.
It could be tailored for a baby's shower by changing the shape to something like a soother or duck, for example. You could just pipe on the letter in royal icing, if you didn't have the means to make a letter impression either.
I did some monogram cupcakes a while back...

I found a nice font, printed it out, and traced them in royal icing. I then brushed them with a little luster dust. Then I just topped each cupcake.
Good luck!
Thank you for the great ideas. I had to do all three initials so I cut out gumpaste dots and piped the monogram on them with royal icing. I will post pics when they're done.
