Hello everyone! icon_biggrin.gif

I have already posted this topic in the spanish forum, but since I have been asked to translate it I thought I could write it here too. Sorry for my english...

This cake was inspired on a cake I saw here on CC made by Tray2

I made 4 square madeira cakes and joined them together with buttercream, and then covered it all with the same thing.
With the trimming leftovers and buttercream I made cakeball. I wrapped both things with film and then stored them in the freezer, because I would need them only 2 weeks later. I took them out a day before to thaw completely

Also a day before I made very very thin layers of MMF (5 or 6 of them) about 3 x3 inches each, to make "paper" and let them dry overnight.

With the cake ball dough I made the dog's head. Then, with crusting buttercream I made the fur of the dog's face, using a Multi-Opening Tip.
The eyes, the nose and the tongue were made out of MMF.

I covered the cake with MMF and made all the accents with it too. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it icon_mad.gif

Then I put all the little pieces of "paper" on top of the cake, and then on top of them, the dog's head. I finished the fur and made the paws too.

A week before I made a lid with pastillaje, to let it dry completely. I don't have a picture of tis either... icon_mad.gif
I covered it with the same MMF and accents of the cake.
I put a couple of dowel rods to hold the lid.

And this is the CC's link http://imgsrc.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1272493 were you can see the final look !!!

I hope someone can find this semi tutorial useful

Hello!

I'd love to try making one of these. Could any one explain me a little better what is cake ball? I understand it's made of cake leftovers?...
