If you are, have you been to or are a part of the Queen City Cake Decorating Club? I am new at all of this and was wondering what does one do at a cake club meeting? Is this a way to get referals? I am just starting out and don't have a lot of chances to make cakes but I would like to get more opportunities. Thanks!!!!

I am not a member, but I went to a meeting once. They are a group of decorators of different levels and styles, that get together. The meeting I went to had meeting business, and Sue Tickel gave a presentation on a few techniques. They started talking about the next cake show, and another project they were sponsoring involving kids.

I think isn't so much for referrals, as for learning from each other's experiences. I just didn't have time for another activity, so I didn't join, but might reconsider at some point. If you get on the website, call one of the people listed and see if you can come to a meeting to try it out. They were all very nice people and would love to have you.
