I've been thinking about what I'd possibly call my business for a long time, but now I'm getting ready to send in the application for licensing and have to have my name on there, so I have to decide now! Any help or opinions or just new ideas would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I've kind of narrowed it down to as of now:

The Sugar Mill
The Sugar Cottage
Sugar Craze

As you can tell, I can't seem to get away from the word "sugar." My hubby doesn't like any of them, but he's a creative weirdo and comes up with really off the wall stuff that I just don't like. I'm open to something else realy cute and creative but still something that's warm and cozy and makes you think of cakes and cookies. TIA!

I would steer clear of putting the word "sugar" in your business name. With all the health trends that come and go, SUGAR can often be a bad word. Heck, look at all the cereals that took it out of their name! LOL!

Perhaps you could consider using the word "sweet" instead.

Other than that, I have no advice. I'm pretty useless like that. thumbs_up.gif

How about " The Sugar Shack" a little creative and cozy. Since you like the word sugar.

If I get my own store, my busines name is going to be "Sweet BB's" since my nick name is BB or Aunt BB.

I looked at your avatar and immediately thought...The Brown Dog Bakery. I did a google search and the only 'dog' bakeries are actually for doggie treats and doggie edibles. People might be a little confused at first, but once the word gets out you'd have lots of 'two-legged' customers!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I'm going to write down my top 5 or 10 and then have my friends and family give me a consensus on what their favorites are. I really appreciate the ideas. Thank you! icon_smile.gif

Okay, so I've narrowed my list down to three names that I'm liking. I've polled some of my family as well.

So here's my question, one of the names I really like, I googled and found that another bakery uses this name. It's in a different state from me. I know there are several bakeries across the country with the same name, but I don't want to play around with copyright laws and such. Is it legal to name your business the same name as someone else in another state? I read on another post a while back that this happened to another CC'r and the person with the same business name contacted her and demanded she change the name. I'd hate to go through the trouble of naming my business and getting all the cards and advertisement things printed with that name only to have to change it because someone else gets upset. Anyone know about this type of thing?
