I have just read the other topics recently posted about butter vs. margarine.
I have just recently started with cookies, and I need the opinions of all of you talented cookie experts.
On all other occasions, I have made NFSC with butter, however, I have to make some cookies today and my butter supply is empty. I do, however, have a few boxes of Imperial margarine on hand. How many of you have subbed with successful, tasty results?
Would it be better to run to the store, or use what I have on hand? By the way, this is a freebie for my mom's co-worker, but I still want it to be just as tasty and cute.
Thanks in advance,
Mandi
I am not a fan of margarine, so I can't give you an unbiased opinion. I've never tried it in my sugar cookie recipe to know if it would bake the same, but I know for sure that if you want your cookies to TASTE just as good, butter is always the way to go. I am always disappointed when I bite into a cookie and taste margarine.
See... I told you I can't give you an unbiased opinion You can call me a butter snob
I know there are a number of decorators that really, really like Imperial maragarine in their cookies. I always use butter, myself. I don't know if I'd be able to tell the difference, but I like to stick with the tried and true. I'd go get butter....but then, I'm only a block from the store!
Well, since both of the replies to my question are FABULOUS cookie decorators, off to the store I go. I would hate for my cookies just to be okay, I want her to LOVE them. She could bring in many more orders!
Thanks a bunch!
hi mandi
I just made 4 dz cookies. These are experimental so I used Imperial. I always use butter. But I have to say, these came out good although need much more flour than when I use butter. But just was practicing with the sticks and decorating so wanted to save on the butter.
Guess its a matter of choice.
