hey all. i tried to post this in the turkey thread...but said it no longer existed??
anyhoo, i have a roasted turkey cake to make for xmas...theres TONS of great turkey pics on here....but havnt come acroos one that has been covered in fondant. ive never worked with buttercream before....but im thinking that carving the cake into a shape then covering in fondant will leave it looking lumpy? it love to try buttercream but dont no where to start.
im from england...and you mention...crisco? and shortening? is this vegetable fat? in england we have something called trex which is veg fat. how do i make crusting buttercream! and how do i get it smooth?

id love to be able to make her a turkey cake....just not sure whether to stick with fondant...or try the buttercream...its so daunting!!!

That thread was created before the 'great crash' this site had a yr (2-3?) or so ago. Lots of the older threads were lost.

Yes, Crisco, shortening and veg fat are all one and the same thing.......what you call Trex.
There are many, many b'cream recipies on this site. Just try a couple of them. Be aware It will be a whole different mouth feel than fondant icon_smile.gif
Indydebi, SugarShack, & cakepro have good recipes
