Hi Caitlin,

I just received my cookie molds today, but I have used multiple colors lots of times with my candy molds. I fill the emblem first, then stick it in the fridge for a minute or two to let it set. Then add your filler chocolate and the two colors shouldn't run together.

Hope this helps,
Martha

Catilin...
You would paint the parts you want colored with melted colored chocolate and allow to set then follow the rest of the directions. Put some choco in the mold; add the cookie; then top off with choco; allow to cool completely before un molding...

CaitlinC412.. Never a stupid question . The molds have the design on them. You can add a different color choc in the design and let it harden then add the milk/dark choc and your oreo and then top if off with more choc. Or you can do the whole mold in one color choc and after its hard you can paint the design with a different color melted choc .

I figured they cost me about 30 cents per cookie to make (using Ghirardelli's Dipping Chocolate from Sam's). It takes about 2.5 lbs. to cover 52 DoubleStuff Oreos. The molds from SpinningLeaf aren't cheap, but they are sturdy and great quality...unlike the Wilton molds.

The molds are cool, but a lot of work! We made halloween oreos last year and we were quite sick of them by the time we finished just a mere 3 dozen or so! That said, I'm sure I'll make some again this year! icon_lol.gif

Great idea to use the double stuffed to use less chocolate!!!

Thanks guys, I'm off to Sam's tonight!

OK, so I'm on their website, checked out the tutorial - but I don't have a double boiler. Is there another way to do this step?

Also, instead of coloring white chocolate for the snowflakes or footprints, can I use regular BC or piping gel after its done and freeze it?

Are you just wanting to melt the choc ? Then you can melt it in the microwave also. I always just melt my choc on the stove in a reg little sauce pan. I never use a double boiler, never have you just have to keep the heat lower so you dont burn / scorth it !

I've always melted the chocolate in the microwave. Quick and easy. You just do it at a medium-low temperature, and in one minute bursts. Melt. Stir. Melt. Stir. I use a 4 cup glass measuring cup because it's so easy to pour directly from the cup into the molds. I'm all about easy!

I agree ... great idea to use filler instead of all the chocolate. And, the kids will probably love it even more.

Thanks!

For those of you who paint the accents before pouring chocolate - what kind of brush do you use? I tried using Wilton brushes and couldn't get enough in to make them look good. I might not have had my colored chocolate quite hot enough, but I finally gave up and just did the one color. They sent me a free Halloween mold that I would love to do in orange and brown for work next week. I do love my molds though!

Thanks for the help.

Have any of you seen these bride and groom Oreo molds? Mine arrived yesterday and I am dying to try them out. I got them on eBay. PM me if you are interested and I will send you the seller's link.

Those look pretty cool. Not sure I'd use them very often though.

They will probably be a lot more work than I am hoping, but for $2.25 each (mold of 4) I had to give them a shot. I plan on using them for a very special bridal shower in February.
