Long time lurkerâ¦first time poster here.

Looking for some help from you kind cupcake lovers. I am traveling out-of-state to my goddaughterâs b-day party and I am planning on making her a cake for the family party and cupcakes for the kidâs party.

I am in search of *super cute* and *super easy* cupcakes.

Just to give you an idea of what I consider *super cute/easy* I am making the âBarrel Cakeâ---round cake with the Kit Kat sides filled with M&Mâs on top. (not sure if this link will work) http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1262581

Since I will be staying at my aunts and canât stay up all hours of the night decorating cupcakes or take over her kitchen for the whole day, Iâm in need of easy but yet guaranteed winner cupcakes like the cake I am planning on doing. (How could that cake go wrong or not look adorable!? icon_lol.gif )

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciatedâ¦.by Wednesday. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks so much!!!!!!

PSâ¦why is there not a cupcake gallery on these boards? Or am I blind?

You'll find some cupcake photos are under mini cakes and petit fours at the bottom of the galleries under wedding cakes.
As for your cupcake question, how about a swirl of frosting sprinkled with mini m&ms. Super easy!

I think that a simple swirl with sprinkles is always a winner with kids. You could add a fondant accent. Flowers or little princess crowns etc. You could also do chocolates from molds. I think you could make something aout of fondant and then just lay a piece of suran wrap flat, put your pieces on it and place suran wrap over, sealing around each one, so they don't get to hard on you. Kids like fondant.

I'm actually considering the butterfly cupcakes from that site but I don't think I want to deal with coating the pretzels or buying a million M&M's just to get enough of the right colors.

Thanks for responding---you are pretty much right on the money for what I am looking for.....just haven't found the perfect cupcake yet!

Thanks for responding but with flying and staying at my aunts house molds and fondants are not really an option.

Kimsmom--thanks for the response. I have thought about just topping the cupcakes with some kind of candy if I can't find a design I like.

I have a few more days.....so I'm open to more suggestions!

These were a hit with a variety of age groups. Super easy but time consuming. However if you did the prep work, color candy cups and cut marshmallows at home, they should fly well, and all you would have to do at your aunts is bake the cupcakes top with marshmallows and put in the cups. HTH
Here is a link to the finished product

I make cupcakes with different colors of swirled icing, then sprinkles, a little bit of chocolate syrup and topped with a cherry. I would love to add the picture to this post but I don't know how! If I can figure it out I will send it..the cupcakes are always a big hit and look like an ice cream sundae.

lainalee ..please tell me how you made the "popcorn cupcakes" they are sooo cute!

You could make and frost the cupcakes, roll the sides in sprinkles and write happy birthday using m & ms or m & m minis, h on one cupcake, a on the next etc... I did that once and the cupcakes turned out really cute!

4 kids- made a million cupcakes!

Easy? One large pastry bag, one large swirl tip, and two paste food colors. Streak the inside of the bag with two complementary colors, each 1/4 of the way around the bag. Dump in buttercream, and swirl tops generously with buttercream. Add any small candy, mini chips or custom royal icing accents you prepared ahead of time. Look great, kids love 'em!

At the elementary school fund raising carnival, kids passed on CAKES to take one cupcake as a prize. icon_smile.gif

You never mentioned the age of the kiddo, that may affect our answers. Sounds like fun!

Sorry, that didn't work. I tried to post a link to my m&m cupcakes. I'm computer challenged. icon_cry.gif You'll have to look in my photos. They are at the bottom of the first page. If you decide to make them, pm me and I tell you a couple of tips to make them very easy. Happy baking! icon_smile.gif

You didn't say if it had to have a particular theme or what gender it needed to be BUT...I had these on my files. Don't know where i found the pic but they look easy. All you'd need is choco jimmie, licorice and for the eyes cut a marshmallow in two and color a black dot on with an edible marker (could be done ahead of time). No piping bags needed either. I think all would travel well. HTH

I keep a supply of jelly lollipops from Oriental Trading on hand, when I need something quick. They have all different styles from horses to monsters. I just swirl on frosting, sprinkles and put a cute lollipop in the center. Done!
I don't know if you can find them in stores where you are, but they have seasonal ones during the holidays here. Michaels has some at times usually up by the registers.

Thanks again for everyone who responded!!!

I apologize for not including her age. My goddaughter will be 4. There is no theme to her party.

CakesbyJam, I have no clue how to attach pictures but your cc sounds cute.

Lainalee, the popcorn cc were on the original listâ¦.but I donât have the time to make the cups.

Cocobean, I do really like your M&Mâs ccâ¦but since I am doing the M&Mâs cake Iâm looking for something different for the cc.

Chelseafitz, and 282513 I like both those ideasâ¦.theyâre on the list.

I greatly appreciate all of you who took the time to offer your suggestions.
I have a few more days if anyone is just seeing this thread.

Thanks again!!

Terrylee---Iâm off to search now...
