dandelion56602..That sounds strange, I did mine in a slow cooker to and it cooked DOWN real nice. Oh wait, was yours a crock pot ? thats what I used,It worked perfect. The 2nd batch I made I made a double batch and it it still turned out perfect ! I also used real sugar.

Heck if I know. The amount of apples filled my crock pot & I didn't have any problems w/ my first batch (which called for fewer apples), but the others were a disaster. It's like all the juices came out of them before cooking down. I really wish I knew what the cause was b/c I would love to make another batch for christmas gifts.
