Hi all,

I am making a Basketball cake for my cousin for his Birthday and i have one question, well maybe 2, LOL. The cake will be covered with fondant.

1 - Do you put any dowels in the cake to help it stand and not move?
2 - How do you make the texture to look like a real basket ball?

I appreciate all the replies. I have found Cake Central about 4 months ago and it has been incredibly helpful. Reading some of the forums and the pictures are amazing. Everyone on here is absolutely amazing. Talk about talent!!!!

Again, thank you in advance for you comments/thoughts. icon_smile.gif

I use a couple of dowels one on each side of the "ball" to hold it together.
As far as the texture I think there are papertowels that have that kind of quilting on it if Im not mistaken. I know someone on here had used something really creative to get it but I can remember for the life of me, what it was! So hopefully someone with that knowledge will chime in!! icon_smile.gif
