Anyone ever done or seen a Mahjong themed cake? My mother loves this game and I would like to do a birthday cake for her with this theme. Any help or suggestions would be appreciate. Thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif

That would be cool! Do a green cake with fondant tiles painted like the real thing. Too fun!!!

if I am thinking of the game..the tiles are on top of one another randomly...you could do fondant making indivdual tiles..stacking on top of another randomly..or pull up the game on the internet there are many different game layouts you could check out and do those layouts.

what about using gumpaste?
I have never worked with either so i am not sure what would work the best.
good luck

I've never worked with gumpaste either so I was a little intimidated by trying it. I did think about making individual tiles and stacking them though. I found a neat site with the different pics of the layouts. Just worried about the gumpaste!! HELP?!

Go with fondant or marshmallow fondant (MMF). Add a little Gum Tex to it and they will harden up very nicely. It's how I did my sombrero in my pics. Just do it a few days in advance and you'll be good to go!

That's really a fun theme! My Dad loves Mahjong too. I have an idea but I can't describe it. I can't figure out how to put it. I'll try to explain it later.
