Thank you so much ! If i forget to answer someone, answer shortly, i'm truely sorry. Have you ever asked a question, and your brain just shorts out ?? LOL Happens to me all the time. Sometimes my brain is out to lunch, and i forget how to ask a question, or remember the next word. I actually have to ask the people around me what word i'm searching for. So, i don't actually know when i'm being rude with my questions, sometimes things come out differently than what i mean. I'm sure i'm not the only person in the world with this problem, so i guess it's not a good excuse. I appreciate all the people on here, and i love the different degrees of talent. I can learn from everyone on here. Have a great day ! Thanks for the invite for the drink ! I'll drink myself stupid! Sheila

Oh man! That would've been so fun to meet you there! I was really bummed about last year because like 50 people said they wanted to meet there, and I think three people showed up other than me and the gal I was there with. I was very glad to meet the few that I did... but it would've been so cool to meet more people!

It's in Tulsa this weekend. And yes, you can absolutely go just to look. There is no need to be a competitor. It's lots of fun, you get to see some great cakes and there are usually some vendors with fun new stuff, etc. If you are lucky you might get to meet Kerry Vincent. She is the one you always see judging the cake competitions on Food Network. She is really nice, you wouldn't believe how nice she is after watching the Food Network challenges, (creative editing) but truly, she was an absolute doll to me! I was thrilled to meet her! I was extra lucky because the person I was there with is friendly with her, so I got to hang out for a few and chat! Cake celebrities! Woooo! thumbs_up.gif

I don't think to introduce yourself should be a prerequisite for getting information. They did respond with a please and thank you and their username should have shown up when you received the e-mail. For me it wouldn't bother me as I will likely NEVER EVER meet the person so to go through the schtick of introducing yourself for a ONE TIME E-MAIL seems a little bit absurd. Like everyone else, they have joined this site for information and since time is a factor in everyones lives I do appreciate straight to the point questions so I can give straight to the point answers. It would have bothered me somewhat if the email didn't even have a please OR thankyou attached.

I think it's the same weekend every year. Also, you can go to their website for more info! http://www.oklahomasugarartists.com/

Every year there is a 'theme' that you decorate to. Last year was Hollywood, this year is flowers, they reveal the coming year's theme at the end of the show. It's a really fun time!

LOL! I havent read this whole thread, but apparently many people feel the way that I do.

I also am glad to help, but I also get a little tired of the "send instructions to xxx" I am happy to help people who seem sincerely interested in the cake. It takes me a long time to write out directions! So I have figured out a solution that seems to help. I reply that if you pm me with specific questions about the cake, I would be happy to answer them. It kind of weeds out the people that don't sincerely want/need the instructions. Plus I don't want to drone on and on about every detail if they already understand certain aspects of the construction. Since I have been doing that, it feels like the people sending me questions are very appreciative.

I always try to help people because enough people helped me, but there are some instructions that are just too detailed and I just don't have the time to write them all out. The demanding ones usually get a clipped answer in return -- I owe them nothing! But even the nice ones sometimes don't ever send a thank you and that bugs me the most. icon_rolleyes.gif

Okay, as a newbie, I do PM people for advice, and I appreciate every response I get. I always start off by complimenting their work (because, let's face it, it's awesome if I'm asking how to recreate it, and then ask the question). Here is a PM I recently sent:

Your cake is flawless! Can you tell me how you made the woodgrain detail and the ice cubes? You have inspired me to try something similar.

I ALWAYS send a thank you when I receive a response because I know that everyone is busy and I'm a complete stranger.
