What is Allowed in the Galleries?

Thread Starter
Lately there have been a lot of questions about what is appropriate in the Galleries. Here are a few guidelines:

1. COOKIES - Only DECORATED cookies belong.

2. Fruit - Fruit is ok if it is part of a cake's decoration, Fruit Bouquets are out.

3. CANDY, CHOCOLATES - Also must be part of a cake or cookie decoration.

-----------

A close up of a cake topper you made is allowed, close ups of purchased cake toppers are not allowed.

Feel free to use this thread to post clarifying questions which I or a moderator will answer as we get a chance.

Excuse me, does that mean all of the Halloween and Christmas 3-marshmallow pops will be removed?

Oop. Never mind. Got my answer. All of Flowergel's gelatin creations were erased.

Heath, what about cookie bouquets? It seems that a lot of people who upload cookie bouquets also upload photos of some of the individual cookies in the bouquet. I find that the cookies in a bouquet photo are often hard to see because they are behind one another and wrapped in cellophane.

It's seems a little unfair to have a candy forum and no gallery and also a cupcake forum and no gallery.

Although some information is better than none I guess and these two forums are good.

There is a childrens gallery but no childrens forum.

Anyway love the site and understand the drain galleries can be on things!

I agree..i would love to have a candy, chocolate gallery especially at the holidays. CC members have sooo many great ideas when it comes to these things it's a shame not to share them.

Heath What do we have to do to get a candy and chocolate Gallery? Do we ask everyone to say hey if they are interested? I have been doing some Halloween Candy and would like to post it.

Just wanted to post a reply to the candy questions. I have browsed the galleries a lot and for the most part, the candy photos that I see are molded chocolate candy or truffles.

The candy made with chocolate molds does not involve any decorating skill. In my opinion, it doesnt warrant posting photos because the results look just like the picture on the package. Truffles and chocolate covered cherries, fudge and the like also look exactly the same. There is no decorating involved. It think that is why candy photos just don't fit in on a cake decorating web site.

IMHO of course.

For our Home made creations that have no place to go?
It is just sad when you make something you feel is great and some one deletes it..because there is no gallery for it...and I am only talking about home made edible things! not diaper cakes or store bought itemsicon_cry.gif

In my opinion, the site has evolved, do you think?

This site give many people inspiration. And I think that there should be a candy and chocolate gallery. I mean You can do a vanilla buttercreme cake 1000 ways, why not showcase the 1000 ways to make chocolates and candies? And Also the fruit bouquets should defiantly be in here, Again if I can post a plain no decoration cake, why cant someone else show off an elaborate hand crafted fruit bouquet?

I just think its time to expand alittle.....

If someone posts a plain no decoration cake, it gets deleted.
That's why I have very few photos. Most of my baking is down-home-style.

I was wondering about posting sugar pieces - blown, pulled, and poured sugar and isomalt stuff like centerpieces. Is there a place for those to go, or are we just doing cakes?

There is a gallery specifically for blown and pulled sugar. Look at the list near the bottom of Misc.
