I enjoyed the show, loved the birch tree cake, thought the convertible was very sloppy & the guy that made it thought he was soooo special.......he wasn't. Of course I will continue to watch the show....it's about cakes, love cake shows.

I am very jealous. I don't have cable and not worth the price just to watch a couple shows. My grandma recorded on her tivo, but not sure when I can get there (3 hrs away) to watch it. I wish she could place on dvd, but not sure how. Would love to know if anyone has. She has saved some of the cake challanges for me to. I tried going on the website, but the video is only sneak preview. No real shows, darn I wish there were full episodes.

I totally agree! When that guy was on, the church lady from SNL was in my head saying "Well, isn't that special???"

you know, I have to admit that while I loved the cakes, I wasn't all that impressed with the show. It was an hour long feature four cakes and what I thought too much 'staged' drama. Plus film-wise, it was overall low lighting and not very welcoming. It's obvious NOT geared to teach anything.

I'll watch it again - it's cake related - but no way does it top Duff.

One good thing about it is that it definitely showed the different cake decorator 'styles' and set-ups. I like the partnership with two ladies of the car. I so lack a business mentality and know I would need a business-minded partner.

I didn't love the show. I liked the Cake Girls quite a bit but was suprised that they called a client "stupid" on national TV. I wonder what the bride and groom thought after seeing that.

The lady with the flowers needed to get a grip. It's one thing to be a perfectionist, it's another thing to be a jerk. She managed to be both.

The Cake Divas were a bit scary. LOL! Did anyone else notice how much they scratched their faces or noses and then continued to work on the cake?

I totally agree with you regarding the quality of the show, it was not well presented & I also thought they could have shown more. Cake Girls website is very nice, they were without a doubt the best, but I don't like to hear anyone called stupid at anytime & on national TV it is awful.

I'll watch it for the cakes but while these people have alot of talent, I am not interested in the drama that goes on between decorators/owners. I didn't catch the "stupid" remark but it's a big faux pas and frankly so is all the eyerolling between owners when they don't agree. Duff's show doesn't teach alot per se but it certainly looks like he's fun to work for, more than I can say for any of the three profiled on the program.

I don't get when they receive a call for a wedding cake the week of the wedding. I do not do wedding cakes, but come on, don't people have to call months ahead of time? That has to be staged.
I went on the website for the shop in Chicago yesterday, I can't remember the name it starts with an "A", and it said they have parted ways and are closing business. Anyone else see that?

Do you mean the shop in New York? The Cake Atelier? That wouldn't surprise me. Those girls seemed like they were night and day. I don't think the Cake Girls in Chicago has closed down. Aside from the fact that they are sisters, they have a really good reputation in Chicago.

Don't get me wrong, I like Duff. I really do. But seeing some of teh other cake people out there (Mike from WA, The Cake Girls etc), it seems like other cake places put out an even better product.

It does say on this page that they parted ways. They are the ones in NY.
