Fiddle! I agree with you completely!! I was so excited to try these. I made pasta with chicken and garlic basil white sauce. Yummy! And the muffins to go with. The batter smelled wonderful and looked wonderful. Mine looked exactly like yours and they were very moist. I didn't baste them with the garlic butter but I did put some on after I tasted it without. I think they could be very yummy with some additions and less basil. Or maybe with the basil chopped really finely. DH ate 2 of them. I just tasted one, didn't like it and didn't finish it. I would give it 3 cuppies as well. DH says that he liked the flavor but not the texture. I'm glad I tried them and I look forward to hearing more reviews... icon_lol.gif

Michelle104.. My guess is that they will turn out for most everyone . And if you like that more of a bland taste, these will be for you ! Im looking for that knock your socks off recipe, thats a real keeper in cupcake or muffins or hopefuly both!
I ate only 1/2 of my warm one ( recipe says to serve warm ) and I tried a cool one thinking that maybe after it cooled it had more flavor but no, it tasted just the same to me !
They look so delicious that you really expect them to have a real burst of flavor, and when they dont its kind of disapointing!

I wonder what we could add that would make them taste like the cheddar garlic....I didn't really taste the cheese in them at all. I'm not very good at tweaking baking recipes, although I'm not afraid at all to just wing it with regular food. Why is that do you think??? icon_confused.gificon_confused.gificon_redface.gif

Lets just go to Red Lobster and get a few orders of their bisquits !

They really are beautiful! icon_lol.gif They would make a great taste of home layout!! icon_lol.gif Maybe I'll have to try them again with some cheddar and garlic powder? How much would you add fiddle?

I have no idea ! I add by taste so I would add and then taste the batter,as far as the garlic goes that is
For the cheddar I would at least 2x the amount that was already posted I think it was only 1/2 cup ?
I might even go for 1 1/2 cups . I would want them real cheesy !Then again I would go by what the batter looks like as I add the cheese to .Sorry ! I cook everything that way . I still think they would be good with some sweet Italian sausage added to.

I think you're right about the sausage too. That would add a little bit of fat and that ALWAYS helps to add flavor. Heaven knows I have enough tomatoes left so maybe I'll try them again in the next couple of days. icon_lol.gif

Or you could skip it and wait to see what the next choice is ?

I just lightly chopped my basil. Do you think it would make a difference if it was like minced or something like that??

OK, I'm in the middle of making these. It doesn't say anything in the directions about the mozerella. I assume being the last ingredient, with the wet ingredients, it is considered a wet ingredient. Or is it supposed to be sprinkled on the top? That might give it more of the cheese flavor.

I mixed my mozz with my dry. Maybe it doesent matter ?

I don't think it matters. I did sprinkle mine on top so I might have wandered away from the original. This is what I found when I googled it. She said to make sure to use a good quality olive oil. She also says to add the cheese with the soup.

Well I had never googled it, I just went with what ever the recipe said and it didnt say where to add the cheese .
As far as the olive oil. I love mine and sautee in it a lot its very flavorful.
Its called Omaggio and its extra virgin olive oil.

Ok. I made mine and I really like them! I ate one warm. It doesn't have a burst of flavor but more of a biscuit taste. It would be great with cream cheese! I got 14 out of mine and they all turned out pretty big. I chopped my basil in the food processor even though it said not to manhandle it. Loved the sundried tomato texture when eating them! I sprinkled the cheese on top since it gave no directions on how to add it and I liked the texture and added taste that way. I didn't have much of an aroma while baking but definitely got a whiff of the tomato soup when I opened the oven door.
I give this a 3.5 rating because I don't know if I would add it to my recipes but I did like them and would use as a biscuit to accompany a meal not as a muffin which can be a meal in itself sometimes.

I tried mine warm as well Grandma. Yes, I would definitely describe the texture as more like a biscuit. But i also put my cheese in with the dry stuff. Did you taste the cheese pretty much by sprinkling on top? Or you just knew it was there?
