Hi All,
Ive just been hired to do a 'decorate your own cupcake' party for 20 kids. Ive never done this before and am looking for suggestions! I tried it with my dd girl scout troop last week and it was chaotic. Has anyone done this before?

I was thinking 3 or 4 colors of BC in a bag with some big tips (round, star) and a bunch of pearls and pre-made plunger flowers????

this is a good gig (and may lead to more) so I want to dazzle them -- other ideas?

and how much would you charge per dozen?

I haven't done a party before, but we did a decorate your cupcake for 100 girl scouts. We did beach cupcakes. They had to ice in blue frosting, dip half in graham crumbs, add a teddy graham with a bathing suit and an umbrella.

I think you should come up with a design or two and they choose. You bring the stuff to make them and they all do the same.

I think that makes your party be more organized.

Also I would charge like you are the entertainment, so more than the cupcakes alone.

Yeah---I would definately give 2 decorating options and let them pick. That way you don't get kids who are trying to ice their cupcake in every single color and then pile the dragees and flowers on as much as they can. I've done cookie parties gone way wrong this way.

This is a perfect suggestion and just the way we do scrapbooking workshops, there is one project everyone does together. I would just pick a design or 2 that goes with the overall theme of the party and lead them in decorating 2 cupcakes, one to eat and one to take home. If you're really trying to get further business from this (doing other parties like this) some ideas to make it special, maybe taking a picture of each of the kids with their creations, bring some kind of cute packaging with your info placed for their take home cupcake or provide kids aprons or chef hats (cost included) so fun! Good luck I hope I get a chance to do this someday!
