Does anyone know of any supply stores near Columbia, SC? I need red fondant and hoping to find brand other than wilton so I don't have a buy several boxes of that 4 color pack just to get enough red!

There is a supply store over near the VA hospital. I can't remember the name of the store but it's a "paper" type store. It's in the small shopping center on the left if you are going towards I-77 (VA hospital on your right). I wish I could remember the name of the store. icon_cry.gif

Anyway, it's a small place and doesn't look like it's got cake stuff but in the back she's got all kinds of stuff. Don't know about fondant because I've only been in there once and didn't know what fondant was. icon_redface.gif

Good luck.

Unfortunately there are not a lot of cake supply stores in the Columbia area. Chocolate Wonderland is a cake store but it is about 15-20 mins outside of Columbia in Lexington. They are a little pricy though. I find it cheaper just to order off the internet. I have never heard of the one Gatorfan01 suggested but I would like to go see what they have.

Have you ever tried making mmf?

Thanks so much for the replies! I have tried MMF and it was a disaster! I ended out coloring white wilton fondant and it turned out good enough. I need to try the MMF again - it was a sticky nightmare when I tried before. Any suggestions?

If is was sticky, you needed to add more powder sugar.

I live in Orangeburg. "If It's Paper" has cake supplies as well. They don't have fondant though. I met this lady that's a chef in Columbia and she's about to open a supply store, she offered to order products for me since I can't find them here. I could ask her about Satin Ice and HRS if you'd like.

Think the one Gatorfan01 was talking about is Cedar Terrace Card & Party Shop on Garners Ferry. Haven't been there in a couple of years, but they did not have fondant when I was there last. There was a new vendor at the last ICES DOS I attended a couple of weeks ago from the Greenville area. Good prices, and he ships same day on orders received by 4PM. Still have to pay shipping unless you want to drive over, but it would be next day delivery for you. He had all the new Satin Ice stuff at really good prices. Check out "cake supplies 4 u dot com" no spaces or quotation marks, of course icon_rolleyes.gif ......

JaeRodriguez - look at the bottom of the home page - there is a "contact us" link there with all the info. SC ICES is amazing - a very friendly, active group with great quarterly DOS and classes by talented artists twice a year. Check out scices dot org or PM me if you need contact info.

Is there a Michael's near by? Michael's carry Duff Goldman's fondant in red and black. They work great and I was very pleased with the outcome. Check out the graduation cake in my photos with the red and black decorations. And don't forget to use your Michael's coupon to save money icon_smile.gif
