Here's a pic of the hibiscus cookie cutter I made by cutting apart a large heart cutter from Hobby Lobby ($.69), reshaping it with a needle nose pliers, and gluing back together with JBWeld cold glue from Home Depot. You can see the pick of the cookies too. I just don't know how to "batch" send out a pic to all the people requesting a pic of it so I put it here.
(I've said this before...but huge credit goes to KHalstead for the idea of making your own cutters. )
I've just found the big cutters a nice option to reshape because you end up with a nice turned over edge just like any other cutter. If you have any questions on specifics, refer to KHalstead's tutorial at the bottom part of cc's home page.
Thanks again!! Jennifer
Beautiful! I really like these, I'll have to try it with my kit. I've had it for over a year and have been too intimated to try making one, lol.
Oh Thanks so much for this thread ! I love to see the product your talking about ,it really helps so much !Again Beautifuly done cookies !
Thanks again for such a great solution! I will be off in search of large circles and hearts as my attempts to find food-safe appropriate metals have not yielded very good results. Again... thanks for sharing your great idea!!!
That is such a creative idea and price wise-you can't beat it. Thanks for sharing the tip and your beautiful cookies!
You are very talented and have been gifted with an artist's hand.
I saw your flicker album and your work is like painting on canvas.
Do you use any of the RI recipes here on the forum?

Wow! I loved these as soon as you posted them on Flickr! I would have never guessed that you hand shaped the cookie cutter. Amazing!
Very cool. I may end up doing this myself because I cannot find one. I certainly am not paying $17 for one.
