I didn't know it existed! I'm not in Omaha, but only a few hours away. Wish I knew more about it!

I belonged years ago, when I lived in Omaha. They are a very nice group of ladies and I learned a ton. I moved 10 years ago, still here from them once in a while, so I don't know who is still involved.

I say go! You have nothing to lose and lots to gain!!

I went to their last meeting, just to see how things were going. They've got their big sugar arts competition coming up in September, and if you don't mind driving down to the Qwest and paying $6 for parking, give it a shot! Their next meeting will focus, I'm sure, on the competition. They go over club business and then someone will do a demo. A good way to see some new & different techniques. I used to belong to the club, but quit after not really being able to be an active member. You should go and see if you like it.

Wow...I'm not that good. I would feel really out of place.

I'm not that good. We could go and feel "out of place" together.

I should rephrase what I just said. We cake decorators shouldn't put ourselves down like that. We're all working on our skills. So from now on I won't say I'm not very good. I'm no Lambeth though.

Neither am I so we could be a threesome. When are their meetings and where do they meet? Does anyone know the cost to join?

I will make it a foursome. I have been thinking about joining and it would be fun to meet my cc sisters! The next meeting is Sept 14. They meet once a month at Mangelsons. The first meeting is free but it is only $25 a year to join. The website listed in another post gives lots of information. See you there!

Well, if you all go, I'm going to start going regularly too! We could even meet for lunch at the Farmhouse before the meeting...or for dessert after! I've met tiggy, but no one else, and I'd be thrilled meet you all! And the club would be ecstatic if we all showed up together.

Don't tell yourself that you aren't very good! We can all use some improvement in one way or another, so think of yourself as a work in progress. You learn new tips and ideas, add some practice, and you improve. There are decorators of all skill levels at the cake club, so that's what makes it worthwhile.

I figured this would be the case! I know I'm a work in progress myself, and I have yet to meet a decorator who thought they were the best and didn't need improvement.

One of the reasons I haven't been a member is the difficulty of getting to the Sunday meetings! I won't go into detail, but my Sunday was not fun. That said...how was the meeting?

I know Sunday's probably aren't the best day for alot of people. I was just surprised that no one came. The meeting was good. Most of the women were a bit older than me; I am 32. So I am sure they will have plenty to teach me. Everyone was very nice. This meeting was mostly just to talk about the yearly fundraisers and the cake show coming up. I would urge you to enter if you can. The entree numbers are really low because Oklahoma is the same weekend as our show. Just for entering you get a gift bag with some great things in it. The local craft stores were very generous! They seemed like a fun bunch of ladies so I look forward to getting to know them better. Hopefully next month is a better month and we can try to meet again. I would be willing to meet on another day if Sunday is too crazy a day for all of ya'll. I hope your trip went well Sandy.
