ok so i am making a coors light can for a party and i want to know how to paint the cake silver. i dont have an airbrush and dont want to buy one just for this particular cake. should i buy americolor airbrush silver sheen and just paint it on with a brush? do i need to mix it with someting? please help you guys. ive never painted on a cake before, let alone silver! HELPPP!!
If you are doing it in fondant, I would do it in light gray fondant and buy the platinum dust brilliant silver from country kitchen. Mix it with vodka or colorless extract (lemon or orange is what I use) and paint it on. Use thin layers and several of them, letting them dry in between. I used an airbrush on my microphone cake, but I did it with light gray fondant and platinum dust, just like I told you, and I think it looks like a good silver color.
The platinum dust is FDA approved for food, that's why I'm pushing that one.
I paint with luster dust mixed with everclear.

The cake in the link started out as white fondant.

sounds great but i am curious.. i had a bottle of airbrush coloring given to me a while back the person thought i could use it to "paint" the cake (they knew i didn't have an airbrush system) so i'm wondering is it possible to use this colorant as a paintable coloring? just curious.
