Help! My icing won't turn red...

Only HOT PINK! This cake is due tomorrow morning and it's supposed to be red and white. But it's looking like it will be hot pink instead. I am completely out of red icing color and my babies are in bed so I can't get more. I have every other color you can imagine but RED or orange. I have copperand burgundy...

Ideas? Anyone?

Did you let it rest? I know you are desperate but sometimes the color doesn't look right and then after letting it rest for a few hours the red comes out of nowhere. If you use red coloring I wouldn't add anything until you let it sit and see what color it gets because in your desperation you can really mess the color and then it's going to be hard to fix, at least give it a couple hours. icon_wink.gif

I agree with miny. Definitely let it sit and don't try to add anything else to it or you may not even have hot pink. What kind of red did you use? Be REAL careful with that burgundy. I find it to have a lot of purple undertone to it. You really could end up with something far from red.

I had a spiderman once that was looking a bit pinkish. The next morning he was nice and red.

For future reference, in case you didn't use it this time, try using a super red, either CK or americolor. You'll get the red you want and use less color.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I let it rest overnight and it's still a very pretty pink! I have done red before and this has never happened to me! I have more red color now and I have used nearly the entire jar and it's still pink...... icon_cry.gif

Oh well...I'll leave it alone and maybe it'll turn red soon....
