Those are absolutely beautiful, but I don't have an artistic bone in my body and can't draw a straight line to save my life. I envy people who can draw and paint like that.

We've painted on fondant before and you just add water and your gel colors. They are beautiful cakes.

I've got to try this! Thanks for the tip. My hubby is an amazing painter. I bet he could paint some amazing designs on cakes.

Thanks for sharing. I'm wondering do you dilute the gel paint with water or just paint with the gel alone?

How i'd love to have talent like that!!! It would be wonderful to be able to use the cake as a blank canvas in that way. Lately i've been really considering taking either drawing or painting classes just to enhance my cakes. Currently i can't draw worth beans. Oh well. thanks for sharing the beautiful artwork.

with food color paints on a smooth rolled fondant surface:

That is right off her website... so she uses food colour paints...

I have used food colouring with a bit of vodka on fondant and that has worked really well for me, you can also add a bit of luster dust right in it and it picks up a beautiful shimmer.

cheers,
ally

This artist was featured on the show Sugar Rush on the food network channel. She does beautiful work and paints as if it is nothing harder than signing her name. The show Sugar Rush features 3 or 4 cake, dessert or sugar artist each week. I ve learned alot from it. It's pretty cool.

I love painting fondant. I've done a few myself. My fave was one I did with a friend where we each painted one side of a 8" cake in one of the great masters. (Picasso, Monet, Munch, VanGogh). I use a mixture of white americolor, gel colors, and vodka. The white makes it very close to painting with an acrylic. Though it dries pretty quickly with the vodka evaporating. I also will mix some luster with vodka and gel color for a shiny look.
