Has anyone tried PerryStCakes' banana cake recipe and know what the ? symbolize, some say 1 ? C and another says ? C of butter in cake batter, can u help please

I don't know the answer but usually when that happens it's because there is a character used in the recipe that doesn't translate once typed...like, a fraction. You know when you see 1/2 but it is typed out tiny with the 1 raised and the 2 lowered? That little teeny 1/2 is actually a "special character" and probably got eaten when posted.

Not much consolation I know, but perhaps you can search thru other copies of the recipe (if any exist) till you find one where they got the #'s correct? Sometimes when I'm trying to track down the origin of a recipe, I type several ingredients into Google, or a phrase from the recipe in "quotes," and just pore over the results to see if I can find a match on another site.

Edited a second time to add Darnit the curiousity got the best of me. I typed a phrase of the instructions into yahoo and found the recipe posted here http://www.venganza.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=175953. It still has some funky characters but it looks like you can ignore the strange A character so that 1 Ã1/2 means 1+1/2. (I think but don't blame me if I'm making a bad assumption! )
