Mdgsue02 did her version of my Coke Cake today and graciously gave me
credit. Since then I have been getting alot of requests on how to do it.
I'm not sure how to do all of this so my DS has gotten me started. I hope this is right.
I baked 2- 6inch rounds and 2-8 inch rounds.
I used a wooden cake board that my DH drilled a hole for the metal dowel rod to go into for more support.
I made rock candy (recipe is in the CC recipes) and poured it onto a cookie sheet. I let it cool just enough that you can almost touch, but just enough that you still fill the heat (and say a few words lol) but not to leave blisters. I laid the metal dowel into the candy and rolled it alittle bit and pulled it up. I used my hand to form it the way I thought soda would look pouring out of a can.
Keep doing this until it has the look you want. When the rest of the rock candy gets hard, take a hammer and break it up. This will be the ice for the glass.
I slit each round to slide onto the dowel. I don't know if I would do that again or if I would just put the dowel down through the cakes. I don't know if it would mess up the candy on the rod or not.
I carved the 8 inch rounds so they would blend into the 6 in rounds to make the glass look like an old soda fountain glass.
I then iced and placed the rock candy ice on top. Glue the Coke can above and have Fun!!!!!!
Enjoy!
