I am so sick of struggling with my stupid cannon printer....(actually its not the printer itself, I don't think, its these horrible edible inks)
I need some help on how you guys are dealing with these problems, or maybe I am just maintaining it wrong.

I don't get many orders for photo prints, but when I do, its such a struggle to get a decent print!

Here is what is happening:
When I go to print, half the time the colors just don't work. I sometimes get all reds, sometimes all blues...rarely get the yellows, but sometimes I do. I have the type of printer with the large black and the small black and I don't think the large black ever gets used. Very washed out colors.

When the printing doesn work, I run the clean nozzle and sometimes I get some colors, sometimes just the same colors and many times i end up using up my inks, because the ink is all over the printer now, and nothing through the nozzles.

I have taken the printer head out, and run it under hot hot water to clean it and sometimes I can get colors, sometimes I don't. It realy is a crap shoot.

After I print, I run the printer cleaning carts through till no ink shows up (usualy a couple of prints does it) and then I just leave it sitting with the cleaning carts in the printer.

The next time I need to print, I gotta go thorugh this all over again.

I put some regular carts (none edible) in the printer, and they printed fine after a few tries. I cleaned the entire sucker again and tried with edibles , no luck.

I ordered several new sets, from various companies, including the kopykake. All the same results, no matter what brande. I have spent a fortune on ink.

I use the KopyKake software to print with and frosting sheets, although am testing on regular paper.

So what am I doing wrong? How do I get this thing to just work for me every time? I am ready to just sell the whole mess on ebay, and not offer printed items anymore (I cannot find anyone local who does this for you, our walmart won't even sell you an extra box, much less print for you, same as target)

Should I remove the cleaning carts afterwards? Do I need to soak my printer head? Any ideas at all?

Thanks!

I'm new to the whole edible printer game, so I'm not going to be much help, but unfortunately, once you have used non-edible printer cartridges in your printer, I think you have contaminated the inner sponge, and it is no longer safe to use with food.

If you have questions, you should call Debbie at icing images - they deal with canon printers and will answer any/all questions you have, and were quite helpful to me when i was getting started.

This is a cannon ink jet printer that uses print nozzles, that I have soaked in cleaning solution for many hours. Beleive me, they are sqeekie clean! I think edible ink is not designed properly for these types of printers, and I wanted to know if anyone else is having these issues.

thanks for the name anyway!

Definitely try calling her . . .they are authorized Canon sellers and technicians for doing repair - even if they don't do the work (or make the sale) they answered hundreds of questions, told my husband where to buy a cheaper Canon printer, and were just really great help about how to fix the Canons when you run into problems. As a result, my husband only wants to buy the supplies from them - they were really a lot of help. Good luck.

I thought that all the Canons had some sort of a sponge inside that made it impossible to clean - definitely talk to Debbie - she'll know about the different models and problems. She told my husband to stay away from certain models, knew about the different clogging problems, and had some good trouble shooting tips for us.
