This is the cake I did for my husband's military retirement party. I think this has to be my favorite, although my grand-daughter's wedding cake was a close second.

I made this as a gift for a 50th anniversary party. It took me about 50 hours start to finish. I was so proud of how it turned out and then it barely made the front page here ( sorry if I sound whiny). Thanks for looking!

My favorite cake is the purse cake I did for my Daughter's last birthday. She wanted a Coach purse and I had her send me a picture of the one she wanted so I made it her birthday cake. She later got the purse for herself.

Wow, punkyf, that is one of the best purse cakes I've seen. I did a Coach purse and boy was it hard. How did you do all of your "C's"? It looks so real.

Thanks allycook. I made a template of the C's and painted them on with paste coloring mixed with a little lite rum. I didn't have any vodka. Each patch of the purse is a seperate piece. I painted the C's on the pieces before placing them on the cake.

Wow, this is a tough one! My avatar used to be my favorite because I made it just 2 months into decorating lessons. It was a challange and made me feel really good. I also love the Lego Anakin Skywalker (posted today) I did for my son's b-day which is today and the High School Musical cake I did for my daughter's b-day last month (they are both in my pics). But I think right now, my all time favorite is Parker's Porsche. It wasn't seen much but it has an interesting story....Kimberly was looking for someone who could make a Porsche cake for her hubby's 50th, she called Charm City Cakes and asked for a west coast referal. Her e-mail floated around to many people and eventually landed in my lap. This was my first carved cake and my first fondant figures. I am very proud of this cake and Parker wouldn't let anyone cut the Porsche because he loved it so much. I was so scared to deliver the cake becasue I knew their expectations were so high.

Loving this post. Mazz...i'm so glad you posted the bee cake. I love, love, love it!!

This is my favorite....It has several sides, but these two pictures show the best sides. It was for a competition at a local museum. I did not win, but boy did it challenge me.

I have really enjoyed looking at everyone elses favourites.

I have a couple (hope no-one minds!!) The first was made for my very dear niece, whom I absolutely adore, so I went to lots of effort to make it extra special for her. Its based on the Disney princesses, and has a royal icing tiara. She went to pieces when she saw it and I just about cried myself when I saw her face. So often I miss out on that part when I make cakes for strangers and for me its the real reason I do cake in the first place icon_wink.gif http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=560593

The second is one I made for my oldest daughter who is in a bit of a goth stage at the moment so I made this cake based on Emily the Strange. Steph was turning 13 at the time and was having a Hallowe'en masquerade party so I wanted to make her very very proud. She still raves about this cake from last year and her birthday is coming up icon_cry.gif

This is my Favorite I was new to cake dec when I seen this in the April 07 issue of ADC magazine and I showed it to my mom who was a cake
decorator and told her I wanted to do it and she said she thought it would be to hard she never worked with fondant or gum paste so she wanted to be there when I made it needless to say she couldn't keep her hands off the gum paste she made the rug and clothes I did the lady and the cradle and wardrobe and the cake. Best of all now when I have a cake to do we do them together we have so much fun. My mom is in her seventies I just wish I would have started earlier I love the the time we share together .

Wow! These are some great cakes!

This is my current favorite. I made it for a baby shower that I hosted so I could play and do whatever I wanted. With help from helipops, I was really pleased with how it turned out.

Geezzeee........ everytime I think I'm improving, I look at all your wonderful cakes, and you put me to shame !!! They are awesome !

I think for MY favorite, I would choose last year's Fair entry..... I put SOOO many hours into it..... almost a thousand tiny fondant flowers.... the floor of the carousel actually rotated, and the canopy was lit with tiny Christmas lights..... I did get a blue ribbon, but not the Best of Show.....

awwww bless thank you icon_smile.gif

the first time i marbled fondant, i was really tired and couldn't be bothered to knead the colour in properly lol. Now i just poke the icing with a tooth pick with colour paste on the end at random points and knead it just a little bit!

The head on the dragons are rice krispies - had to do it that way to get the shape I wanted, and for the green one to have his head up off the cake board.

Hi all. I did this one this weekend and I think it is my best one yet! I had a lot of problems with Thomas, but he turned pretty good.

Very cute trees on the Thomas cake and I love his puffy cheeks!!! Nice job on this one. I made the cake in the link for the neighbor kids' birthdays. It's not my personal favorite but the CCers seem to really like it. Anything Cub's related is really big in the Wisconsin/Illinois area lately!

This is one of the most special to me. I made it for a couple the groom was terminally ill with cancer and they decided to get married. Having lost my mum to cancer I was really touched and honoured to do the cake. The brief was simply that the bride liked blue, roses and frescias. The bottom tier fruit cake at the grooms request and top tier mud cake bride's request.

I had a vision of the cake and it's one of the closest visions I ever bought to fruition to top it off going on not much more info about the wedding I was later told that the cake fit into the wedding perfectly, the blue ribbon matched some ribbon on some candles they had and the cake bouquet matched the bride's bouquet so that many people commented on the similarity.

Sadly the groom passed away a few weeks later, and I was told that as he lost his appetite the one thing he did like to eat was a little piece of the fruit cake everyday.

I was so honoured to have helped create some memories for the couple, the bride left behind and the guests, and now for me!
