I have a sheet cake for a man turning 50 for this weekend. The problem is that the woman who ordered it wants ruffled scallops on the sides of the sheet cake with a rounded top edge. She wants everything gold and white. She also said she wants it to be pretty. This is for a man!! She wants 50 to be in the upper right hand corner and the rest to say, "Aged to Perfection".

How can I do this to look manly with ruffled scallops?

How about piping a borber above the scallop w/ a straight ribbon tip. Like tip 47, 48, 2B or 1D. This will give it a more tailored look.

Try not to curve the lettering too much. This will keep it from looking too feminine.

Maybe he's not a manly-man.

Find a very interesting font. I would make the #s rather large (& fancy but not feminine) so it takes up a good part of the corner. If you do a google search for fonts you will find some interesting ones. Print out the words & #s; turn the page over and trace them w/icing; turn page over onto cake and press all over that icing so it transfers onto the cake. If necessary pipe over that so it shows well.

You can spend all day on there finding just the right font My personal favorate of the couple dz I ck'd out is under the catagory "Famous Fonts" page 4; "Walt Disney" font.
I was able to see a preview of "aged to Perfection". Didn't find only #s though

dafont.com is the best for finding fonts, and they are all free to download. I do a lot of graphic design, and this site is an absolute lifesaver sometimes.
