fbcts and cuppies

Hey everyone! Has anyone had luck with putting FBCTs on cup cakes? I've made a cupcake-cake before - about a dozen cuppies. My mom's birthday is on Thursday and I wanted to make chocolate cuppies with a "Ding Dong" filling (my mom LOVES those) and top each cupcake with a different small FBCT. . . . . . I searched for anything on this subject but I couldn't find anything!! icon_confused.gif TIA for any help!!

I would try it, as long as its a simple image. Maybe use a cookie cutter the size of the cuppie so it kinda looks like a cap and you make the edges sharp. I hope that makes sense

I wouldn't try it unless your cupcake top is totally flat. The FBCT will crack or break if it is bent at all. What about a chocolate transfer on each one?

I tried one 2 weeks ago. I made a soccer ball because I thought it would be easier to trace than to do one free-hand on a cupcake. I ended up making it too big, and when I put it on the cupcake, it looked like a hat. Once I let it sit out and get soft, I started pressing it down, and almost wrapping the cupcake. It ended up turning out cute, but I decided I would try a different way instead, inspired by kimkait. I ended up doing a ball of icing, and free-handing the design.

I would definitly try it just to see what happens. I may try another one in the future, and just use less icing, and make it smaller.

good luck! thumbs_up.gif

I did fbct on cupcakes. See my photos, the hello kitty's are fbct. The tops need to be frosted flat then add the transfer. They came out nice. I did not flatten the cake itself but just made the frosting so that there was a flat surface.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies! I made 9 fbcts last night - each one is about the size of a 50 cent piece. I was planning on frosting them normally, and then putting the fbct on top. They're little pansy faces. They turned out so cute. They're sitting in my freezer on their little waxed paper squares. . . . I was a little worried, but for once my cuppies didn't have hugely domed tops! I think it will work perfect. I can't wait to take them to my mom this weekend. I'll attach a picture when I get them done!!

I'm glad it worked for you. I've done it with domed cupcakes. I put the FBCT on the cupcake and when it defrosts, it fits nicely around the cupcake top. I didn't have any cracking when I tried it.

I got the idea in the early days of the cupcake thread...back before I gave up! Someone, don't remember who, had done some adorable FBCTs of red checkered table cloths that she put little ants on...I think!

SUCCESS!!!!!
Check them out! I am tickeled pink about how they turned out. They were the moistest (is that a word?!?!) cupcakes I've ever made. SO yummy and the little pansys turned out better than I thought!! I did break the yellow one on the bottom row, but it was OK once it thawed a bit. My mom LOVED them! I think the only thing I would have done differently is to put a little more icing on the tops of the cuppies so the transfers had something to sink into more, but otherwise, a successful idea!! I love it when things work out! Thanks for the help everyone!

Evidently we can't post jpg files?!?!?! They're the only cuppies in my pics if you want to see them!
