Okay, these people want this cake to look large - to have a real presence at this party...so what size pans should I use? I thought about side by side 12x18's because that would be a real presence, but I'm afraid it would look squatty - too flat - and how in the world do you tort a 12x18" cake?, and would torting it make it look tall enough, or would you suggest doing double layers? Sorry, I know my questions are rambling and not grammatically correct.... icon_confused.gif

Any advice or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

Yes, I use two 12x18's to serve 100. Side by side or stacked on top of each other, they serve 100. You can have it wide and flat or tall 'n skinny. Not sure how you can do both.

What about some kind of stand or elevating it somehow for the height thing? A super-sturdy box (and it would have to be really sturdy!) covered in a tablecloth, then the cake on it.

Get some of those clear blocks (used in bathrooms), lay them on their side and place the cake on those. If you arrange it right, you can place some small wedding lights in between the blocks and the light will shine thru the block for a great effect.

a full sheet cake ( 2 of the half sheets side by side will serve 100) if you want it to impress and they will pay do three half sheets side by side. See my pictures, I do these a lot for schools and graduations. There are two in my pictues of the three halves, and there is a couple full sheets. WE Put the three sheet cakes side by side on a 1/2 thick plywood board, covered in freezer paper (wax side out). I love the idea of elevation the bd. If you do I would put ribbon on the edge of the bd to finish it. We charge 130 for our super size cake.

good luck

What about a double layer 18inch round. That would be one huge cake! icon_biggrin.gif
