I just made my first WASC and homeade buttercream last night for my work because i have always wanted to try it and it was BIG HIT!!!

Everyone was like OH MY GOSH!!! ITS LIKE WEDDING CAKE haha

That's my moms favorite cake. It's even good with ganache. Try some of the variations sometime too. Another good WASC variation is Chocoalte kahlua, that's the one I like.

oh man i bet the one with kahlua would be great! I used the white almond sour cream recipe under the recipes...it was really easy too!!

I was really impressed how flat it baked too..usually the boxed mixes are so rounded on top....i didnt even have to level this one

Does anyone have a scratch recipe or know where I can find one please? I am beginning to develop a bad case of WASC envy.......

cakewhizz- use the white almond sour cream cake recipe under the recipe tab!! Its fabulous!! I am a newbie and had only used boxed mixes and now I will never ever ever go back!!

Thanks Ibain but I still can't find the scratch recipe. The only one I found calls for a box mix which we don't have over here in the UK.

I may sound pretty dumb but what is WASC? I have seen a couple of threads on this recipe but I have no idea where to get the original.

jacquie- Its basically like a doctored boxed mix. So its just like the cake mix and a few extra stuff

Thanks Junny!!! I'll hot foot it down there ASAP. I hope they have the white cake mix though. I've seen loads of flavours but not the white mix. Maybe I should go to a superstore.

Ever since I tried WASC I've never looked back...I get rave reviews each and every time...I also used French Vanilla cake mix instead of the white and I added French Vanilla extract...OMG never ever would I go back to a cake from scratch...

i love WASC too. but cake mixes aren't readily available here.i actually made the chocolate version and they were good. moist and oh so yummy.

<<<Sounding Stupid, but I have never tried this cake either. To change the flavor, like chocolate etc, do you just change the kind of cake mix? Or do you have to add other things.
Oh and again, stupid I know, but you don't taste the sour cream in it do you?

i think the sourcream just makes it moist. i couldn't really taste it.

and for chocolate wasc, i used chocolate cake mix.
