Help: Refridgerating Vs. Freezing Cakes

Hi,
Recenlty i have come across an issue when i try to make my cakes ahead of time. I DONT HAVE THE ENOUGH FREEZER SPACE!
If i wrap them same as i would if they were in the freezer (saran wrap and foil) how long can i keep them in the fridge.
If the event is on a saturday, i usually bake wed/thurs and then freeze, if i were to keep them in the fridge when should i bake them?

Well wrapped they will last up to 10 days in the frig.
So yes, go ahead and bake on Wed for your Sat or Sun order. They should be fine.
I personally have never had cakes last 10 days in the fridge. They tend to go "off" about day 5.
I also bake on Wednesdays and either refrigerate or freeze for Fri/Sat/Sun orders.
If it's wrapped very well you should have no problem baking and refrigerating on Wednesday for a Saturday delivery
I have had the same problem but recently finally got a dedicated upright freezer for cake.
I moderate one of the local site for freecycle which is a website that people give away items no strings attached to keep items out of the landfills. it is . org if you want to see if there is one in your area.
I got the freezer for FREE, which is great since it will cost me the electricity for it. The upright one has 5 adjustable shelves and can hold a lot. I am thrilled.
I had been trying to use our chest deep freeze and my hubby would put stuff on cakes or things would fall and crush a cake.
I also got a blue print cabinet to dry fondant pieces off the site from a architech business that was closing.
Others from my old wilton class have gotten fridges, mixers, pans etc.
Great way to get something or give away something and reduce the enviromental impact.
yeah.... i dont think deep freezers are ok, maybe unless its only for cakes. my mom has one. i made a cake and put it in there. my sister piled so much stuff on top of it. it was so smashed. i had to remake the cake
Refrigeration causes baked items to stale. This will happen even if they are wrapped (slower tho).
I have my chocolate cake layers in the fridge, this was my first time baking ahead and refrigerating. I need to crumb coat before covering with fondant, does the cake need to be room temp before I do the crumb coat / fondant. If it needs to be is room temp for the crumb coat, should it be wrapped or unwrapped? - Thanks!
