Another alternative would be to <gasp> not have quite such a big party.
I love Nordstrom's clothes, but since I'm in college full time, Fashion Bug fits my budget better. I don't go pester Nordie's to see if they'll sell me clothes for MY budget.
I agree. Costco has a half a sheet for $17.00!!! They have jumbo cupcakes(triple regular size) for $18.00 for 18. In a regular grocery store a regular 1/4 sheet cake with a few flowers on it goes for $19.00. Toppers and fruit filling are extra.
I am very new to decorating and caking and am no where near the skill of alot of these ladies on here. I also make everything from scratch and that adds more time in, I use all real butter and that adds more cost in.
I made a 1/4 sheet cake yesterday for my hubby's work party. It was a very simple cake. The ingredients and packaging alone cost me $10.00.
My husband came home from work and spent time decorating it. Pretty simply, but it did take him some time. He drew/made? the custom logo on everyones work shirts and put that on the cake.
I have no idea what a bakery would charge for a custom order like that so maybe I should call around and find out.
I wouldn't sell it for anything less than $40.00.
