Hello Everyone

My 12 year old twin newphew & niece's bday is coming up & I was going to make their cake.. I wanted to make sometype of "money cake" with real money..
I could do the same cake as this and instead of the "faces", I could dollar bills in place of it..
Does anyone have any idea's on how I could do this or do they have a different idea for a money cake that I couyld do?

Thank you so much for you help and idea's..

You'd have to find some way to make sure the money didn't touch the cake. Money has lots of germs on it.

You could find a money pic online and make edible images with that

what a great cake!! I love how the guy is passed out!!!!

Thanks for all of your help.. I wanted to do something more than just give them gift cards, so I thought this would be really cute!! I'll take pictures..

It's hard to find something that they both like,, They are your typical pre - teenagers ,plus they are twins and my sister just wanted one cake, not two, so I think this is going to be a perfect balance, plus I'll give them the real game since I have to buy it to use the fake money and rent cards!!

What about if you laminated real money? You could laminate them and then cut them individualy and place them under the cake. (or wherever you decide) Please post a picture when you are done!

Here is a cake that I saved to my favorites...
It was done by VACakelady on here. Sorry, I don't know how to post the link of the picture. In the description, she said that the money was million dollar bills that she ordered online.

could you take money scan it and change the faces to be your niece and nephew and print out a bunch?

I think as long as it's obviously fake you should be in the clear and won't have police knocking down your door. icon_wink.gif

if you can do an edible image though that might be your best bet. OR you could scatter real money on a board and take the plastic you can put over your windows and "shrink" wrap the money under the cake so no cake touches the money.

good luck!

The thought popped into my head to get some dollar coins, wash and boil them and use those. icon_lol.gif I don't know that it would still be sanitary enough though, lol. Hmm...that's a toughie...

Zooie, sanitary or not, those coins have a metallic aftertaste that would get all over the food.

I love the Monolpoly game idea with the money under the cake board! I can't wait to see it!

Thought I'd show my "Mr.money bags" cake I made for my son for anyone who is searching in the future...

I wish I could take credit for this cake, but VACakelady did it! It's really neat, huh?! I just want to make sure she gets proper credit. I couldn't figure out how to put the link to the pic, so I just copied it into the thread.

Sorry, I meant her question was a toughie. My thought was just a random one meant to help get other thoughts going. The sanitary issue alone would keep me from ever trying it, though the metallic after taste was a good point to bring up.

I dont think you can really do this, well you can of course if you can find someone to laminate it, but you are defacing US currency, a no no. And once you laminate it the money has no value I think, though I would have to check that out, its been a while.

There are TONS of laws about what you can/cannot do with money. So becareful with ediable images and such because you have to watch the sizes. Ex. At my moms copy shop we do not copy money, no matter what just to be safe, but the rules are to copy money you ahve to have it in certian sizes, nothing even close to the real thing.

The cake sounds like such a cool idea though and I cant wait to see it done!

I like the idea about putting the money on the cake board and then covering it with cellophane or something to protect the cake from it. I would definitely get fresh dollar bills from the bank, too.

I know the Monopoly idea will be really cute, too. I can't wait to see it.

Just be careful putting money on the board and covering it with just clear cellophane, it could get ripped with the cutting knife. What about having a glass bowl between layers filled with cash? or even one of those puzzles you have to solve to get the money out capsules filled with rolled up $$$. Do post pictures on whatever you decide. Sounds like fun.

I don't know if this might help but search moneygami, if you have the patients you could fold the money in to some cool stuff and use it as a cake topper or flowers for you tree idea. Here a link to one site I found, maybe you could find one like a game piece for the monopoly board....hope I made sense...HTH
