icon_surprised.gif I just received a telephone call from Wilton asking me to become an instructor in my area. They're sending me a kit for me to sign up. I get the pick the evenings I want to have the classes on. I have to have at least on Course I class a month. Course II and Course III are optional and only if we have enough participates to sign up for the classes.

Has anyone else been an instructor for the Wilton courses?? Any input is appreciated.

Congratulations Cheryl. I too was contacted this week to become a WMI. If all goes well after I get my initial package from Wilton, I will be teaching at a local Hobby Lobby. I can't wait. I was apprehensive when I first thought about teaching, but I've taught software applications before, so teaching something I love should be fun! Looking forward to this new venture and sharing my experiences on CC.

I really need them as I'm extremely nervous about all this.. it's different at a DOS because you're sharing and not getting "paid" to do it lol I hope I'll do ok with the cake decorating instructor thing icon_smile.gif

The first class is always the hardest but remember - even if you mess up - most of the students your teaching don't know anything - so they won't know you've messed up. icon_lol.gif Practice with a girlfriend or a family member. You'll do fine. thumbs_up.gif

Oh I plan to try the Course I material on my sister who also does cake decorating .. I may drag her to my first class so she can be my critic and let me know what I need to improve on icon_smile.gif

ntertayneme- I am really suprised to learn that you aren't an instructor already. With all the good advice and teaching you do here I would have bet money on it. You already have a natural nack for teaching, that is obivious, and I know after you get that first class under your belt you will be great.

I feel honored just get a cake order.. icon_surprised.gif OMG to be asked to be a instructor.. icon_surprised.gif I would be so overwhelmed and nervous that I honestly think I would say No.. icon_confused.gif LOL It's that just silly.. But I would tell someone else GO FOR IT.. and from the looks of your cakes you should have been discovered along time ago!!

Thanks so much brainsbaker ... I'm still very nervous.. it's different when you're doing cakes for yourself or to sell to others.. they don't sit and watch you decorate.. but all eyes are on you for these courses to show them how to do it lol .. so that part makes me a bit nervous icon_sad.gif I know with time, that'll get better.. but the initial class will just make me a nervous wreck lol

Cheryl,

You sound sooo much like me. My daughter and I share the cake decorating bug. So, I told her that I wanted her at my first class to be my critic. I know she'll be honest. I filled out the screening application for WMIs less than a week ago. I was really surprised to get a response so quickly. It's great to find so much encouragement at CC.

You're so right KrazyKross... this is a wonderful place for encouragement when we're nervous or uncertain about things we're doing .. thank goodness for my sister!! I drag her along with me everywhere... I always let her know how much I appreciate her and how I could never do a lot of things I do without her ... she'll be honest and tell me if there is anything I need to change or something I could improve on .. it's great to have family that make good critics and aren't too bias lol
