Hi Everyone,

I was asked to tell some more about the flowers I made for the square flower power cake. I'll try....(I'm dutch, so I hope I can write the story understandable icon_biggrin.gif) These are fun to make, but a bit time consuming.....

First, the cutters and tools.
THESE cutters I used. I only needed the thee smallest ones. I also used a flute/veintool and an flowerpad, all FMM. The paste I used was gumpaste, this is important. The cutters won't work with ordinary fondant or marzipan. I'll try to show a picture of all tools.

I made one flower with the smallest cutter, one of nr. 2 and two of nr. 3. Then I veined each leaf with the veiner on the flowerpad. I left each flower to dry in cups with different sizes, the biggest flowers in the shallowest. I used all kinds of stuff to put the flowers in to dry, such as a 'poffertjespan' wich is a pan for tiny dutch pancakes icon_smile.gif after about half an hour, I could assemble the flowers with a drop of water. then I took bits of brown chocolate fondant en made some little holes in it with my knife scriber tool and put that in the heart of each flower. Then I allowed them to dry some more en they were ready to use on the cake.

I attached them to te cake with a glue made out of icing sugar, tylose and an drop of water.

This was the result:

I've also used these cutters to make daisies and had problems with them not giving a clean cutout, especially towards the center of the flower. Any suggestions for this?

Yes! I have a tip for that.

I had the same experience..... So after the cut, I turned the cutter with paste in it upside down, roled with my roller until all of the cutter was visible en than rubbed the cutter on my non-stickboard to remove te rest of the not-wanted paste icon_smile.gif
