I have to get started on a stacked cake tonight, so I apologize for not searching.

When stacking a 6" and 9" two layers per tier do I need to do a cake board under the 6" layers and dowels for support within the 9"?

My cake will be a light, but somewhat dense pound cake.

Thanks!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm sorry one more thing. Do I need to have a dowel going into the middle of the 6" cake down into the 9" cake?

I wouldn't worry about the dowel down the middle. I usually only do that for taller cakes. If you want to take extra precautions than go ahead and do it.

Ok. I'll just take a look at the final height and decide from there.
