My customer designed this cake to match the invitation. She wanted clean lines uncluttered etc.(I think it is boring).Any way since the cake is all bc and she wanted the 3 color block I explained it is hard to bring the colors together without a bead along the intersections of colors. She really did not want the bead if avoidable...My question is do I need the bead or is it good enough? I am on the fence and need input other than from my 10 year old ...

I think it looks really good. You did a great job of making the lines come together so smoothly. No border necessary. thumbs_up.gif

I think it looks good and if your customer really didn't want the beading, I would keep as is. Nice job!

It looks like a fabric cover to a scrapbook. Leave as is. They will love it.

We get so close to the cake we can only see flaws and everyone else only sees how great it is.

It looks fine as is. Put down the spatula . . . back away from the cake. icon_biggrin.gif

I think your lines where your buttercream meet look fabulous! You did a great job. I noticed that the invitation (or napkin or whatever that is) has a scalloped edge. A wavy little border piped in a rope-not beads- would look cute and compliment the invitation nicely.

I agree with Alana -- you did a tremendous job on the buttercream colors meeting. But a wavy border would be really cute -- you might check out Cakery for her sheet cake borders -- plus I see a butterfly on the invite - you could add a butterfly where the 3 colors meet -- if the lines are really bothering you.

But -- you did a great job -- I can never get 2 colors - much less 3 colors to line up that evenly!

I tried to talk her into all of that (a bug, butterfly decorative scalloped edges) but she had this all drawn out and wanted nothing else (she even had the flower colors and centers mapped out with no willingness to change ) so the customer is always right-yes?

Sheesh! I hate when customers tell me EXACTLY what they want. There's so much pressure to get it exactly right and there's no creative licence. You're not a robot for goodness sake! Your an artist!

Well she is getting exactly what she wants and it's beautiful, so let her have the cake just the way it is.

My DH always says, less is often more.

Good Luck.
