Oh how gross!
Shoddy and nasty and shameful!
What part of your brain is not correctly connected to the other part that tells you grabbing uncut cake with your hand at a place that is not your home (and is your work for heck's sake!) is acceptable?

I agree with contacting his boss and billing him. Mostly letting his boss know what kind of 'sales rep' they have. Geez!

I am so sorry about your cake! What a sod!

If ever there was someone deserving of the label "Fat Pig", it's this guy.

Bill him for the cake and add an extra P.I.T.A. charge!

I agree with everyone else regarding the bill. What a pinhead! This may just be a 'taste' of how he behaves everywhere. His supervisors should be informed.

Also... just wanted to point out that this guy is not a moron because he's fat. He'd be a moron with any body type. Please don't put the blame where it doesn't belong. thumbs_up.gif

He really just grabbed it with his hands?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!? REALLY? What in the world!!! I cannot even imagin a 8 year old doing this much less a full grown man!! I would have gone out to his car and smashed his front window, then tell him that I was angry and just needed to hit something.

Send him a bill.

Thank you DianeLM. This story is really gross but it would of been equally as gross if it had not included his weight. Not all "fat people" are so hungry that they would do something like this.
He has serious issues and it has nothing to do with how much he weighs.
A slob, pig or whatever other adjective for people you can think of comes in all colors, shapes and sizes.

This reminds me of the "bum" that decided he wanted to sample our buffet at the bowling alley one night. We used to be able to bring in things for our Halloween and Christmas party's on our bowling night. Well I had brought in a chili cheese dip with corn chips. This guy (who wasn't any part of the bowling league) who looked like he should be pushing a shopping cart thought he could put his grubby hands into the chips then dip and double dip into the chili cheese before any of us noticed him and could stop it. It still makes my stomach churn to think of this. No one ate any of my dip (and they were pretty upset cuz they always ask for this special for the party's) I ended up throwing it all away. Wasted money icon_sad.gif And he was not so politely escorted from the building.

I would have said, "You just bought yourself a cake, mister!" . . . . then I would have marched him over to the coworker that the cake was intended for and made him explain that he'd just stuffed it in his face.

Actually, I don't know that I would have recovered from the shock soon enough to be that level-headed. My gut reaction would have been to slap him and knock the cake out of his hand. I've taken kick-boxing lessons, so my reflexes are pretty quick. My aim isn't always the best, though . . . so he might have been limping away from that encounter.

Mail this clod a bill. Send a copy to his boss along with a letter explaining what happened. I bet that bill gets paid.

Bloody hell, what a feckin' @$$hole! Yes indeed, contact his manager/company and report his behavior. I can't imagine what would possess a person to do that...especially someone who is in customer relations & sales.

I'm really sorry it happened to you, hon! <hugs>

I agree with everyone else send a bill to the company!! A couple weeks ago I made a cake for work to celebrate someones birthday. I had the cake all boxed up next to my desk on a long counter. Some idiot sorry, a gentleman who was a salesman was going to fax something, granted the countertop is empty decided to take his papers and put them on top of my cake box and try to write on the papers. Why he chose the box is beyond me, the counter was empty. Also the box was not closed because I had fondant starts coming out of the top of the cake with wire. He had to close the box to write on the top of it. I screamed What are you doing. He laughed he thought it was funny. I couldnt get over it. The cake was fine but let me tell you if it wasnt my foot would have been up his you know what. I know this is not as bad as sticking a whole hand into a cake but thats how ignorant and disrespectful some people are.

I agree with letting his supervisor know. Even my husband, who delivers for Frito Lay in the large trucks, so he doesn't even go into the stores or to the machines, he just brings the stuff there for the vendors to put out, he has a mile long list of do's and don'ts as far as apperiance, attitude, and professionalism. If he was a vendor of any type than your company is a customer of theirs. I would find out who is in charge of account in the main office and have that person make a complaint to the company about his behavior. He should be so far beyond fired right now if I was his manager.

I spent 11 years in hell, er, um, I mean working retail. I had a couple of pretty nasty, lazy vendors (reps). It did not bother me one bit to be on the phone to there boss every week or so and tell them what I thought of there lazy workers. I was the one having to pick up the slack. Over time they both got fired. One was replace by a real nice guy and the other company, well, they were still trying. I wanted to pull the product, but I worked for big corporate America and they said what we carried in the store, not me.
I, too, am one of those big fat people. No, I am not offended by your comments. He is acting like a pig. Turn him in with a BIG FAT bill. He will never stop if you don't. If nothing else, he will never do it to you again.

OK, I'm, still waiting for someone to say "ha ha gotcha, it never really happened!!!".

How can someone even contemplate touching a completed, decorated cake and more so stick their hand in, take a big chunk and presume eating it!!! I can't get this round my head!!! icon_mad.gif

I definately agree with everyone else, send his boss a bill and make sure you include your delivery fee (without stating it separetly), cause the cake was outside and you did deliver it, and add any other amount you can think of to the bill and give them 7 days terms of payment.

Unfreakin believable, I still can't accept that a person who works amongst others can bring themselves to do this.

Oh and another thing, isn't that STEALING!!!!!

Last I checked "Fat Pig" is a euphemism and can be applied to people of any weight. I was describing his actions, not his physical structure. His weight had nothing to do with what I said. He acted like a big fat pig by digging into the cake the way he did. I was only calling a spade a spade.

As a chunky monkey myself, it was nasty no matter what he looked like. I don't care if I haven't eaten in days(not like that happens much lol) never would I even THINK to eat something that wasn't mine.

Send the COMPANY A BILL explaining his actions. Me thinks he will be put on a "diet of some sorts".

I still can't get over this. I work in a building with LOTS of people . . . there are 22 people in our department alone . . . all ages, sizes, male and female. If there's a decorated cake that appears to be for a birthday or special occasion, even our least intelligent employee will not touch the cake until the guest of honor has sliced the cake. I've seen cakes sit half a day waiting to be sliced (then it's gone in ten seconds). Still shaking my head.

this is a prime example of bad parenting early on! crappy parents not doing their job bring up crappy adults. I'm suddendly having visions of the movie "A Christmas Story" where ralphies mom was having his brother eat like a little piggy just so he'd eat his mashed potatoes, instead of just whoopin' up on him and making him act like a decent person. LOL

I'm waiting to hear if the OP is going to actually contact his boss???

WOW. Way to promote a stereotype.... (him not you)

Well the one good thing to take away from this is that your cake LOOKED GOOD icon_smile.gif He said he was hungry and the cake looked good, right? icon_smile.gif

But really? Who does that? I mean was he starving?

Now funny story - Duff from Ace of Cakes was in town (I posted about it w/ pictures) and he made a cake. There were so many people pressed up against each other trying to get close to it - and then the bowling alley where he presented it didn't have a knife! So Duff was escorted into another room and no one knew what to do. We did all wait to see if someone came by with a knife - but no one did. Then, people started going at it with plastic forks - which is pretty hard to get through fondant - and then people DID actually go at it with their hands. Now that's the ONLY situation I can think of where grabbing a chunk of cake with your hand is "ok" - and it really wasn't ok, but what were we supposed to do when there was NO way to cut the cake??? And it was already presented and was for the people there - so it's not like your story - we weren't just walking by someone's cake and grabbing a chunk.

So sorry to hear about your awful experience with this person. Hope you do send the company a bill! Don't be shy!

I must say we CCers are some real hellraisers that's for sure. That poor guy had no idea what he did. From the sounds of it had maybe 2 or 3 of us been in that office he'd be nursing some serious wounds right now. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif and rightly so & still leaving with a fat bill. Hello Cc members. Thanks for your comments. The purchasing department called the sales rep's boss. We dropped him from our account.

I apologized if I offended anyone of the sales rep's weight- . I was upset at jerk.

I made copies how much I spent on the cake and also a copy of the cheesecake factory party to the idiot sales rep's boss. His boss gave me a gift cetificate at Michael's, an apology letter of his employees behavior, and a gift certificate at Cheesecake factory.

It worked out. We will use the gift certificate for a future office holiday party and I'll use the Michael's gift certificate to buy more cake supplies.

I agree with minorfan, you should send a bill for the cake to his boss.

I once brought a cake to my office that I had made at a Wilton class, and left it in the lunchroom in a COVERED tupperware container. Now previously when I had brought in a cake, I had left a LARGE note next to it that said help yourself. This time however, I did not. When I go to the lunchroom at noon, expecting to be able to share the cake with my friends - there is ONE slice left! icon_mad.gif Some knob decided to start into the cake without asking - and of course once it's been cut into, then everyone thinks it's open season.

I hope these people are the same ones who ride bicycles without helmets - they need to be removed from the tapedshut.gif gene pool!!

Glad to hear that things worked out...

My guess is that guy is probably not working for them and if he still is has gotten the business etiquette lesson of not eating ANYTHING at a client's place of business unless it is pretty well forced upon him even if his belly button is touching his back bone. That's just GROSS what he did!!! WHO on earth takes the first swatch out of an occasion cake that is not for them...

I agree with the PP, that idiot woulda discovered the pudge don't provide much padding from the angry mob of CCers icon_mad.gificon_sad.gificon_mad.gif getting at him... He'd be cry'n like a church boy icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif ...

As for the bowling alley situation... What 'cha do next time is ask if anyone has a Jack Knife on them... Yes, some people in this world still carry one!!! OTOH, you'd still have to sanitize it, but what the hey, it'd get the job done!
