I am now able to smooth my icing out but for the life of me I annot get those sharp edges. I can smooth them over where they are sort of edgey sort of rounded but I cannot get sharp! HOW DO Y'ALL DO IT!!!! PLEASE TELL! PLEASE, PLEASE.
So. my husband saw me looking at cakes and dreaming of sharp edges he saw that someone posted they used a 6" painters spatuala and my DH said....... are you ready, ladies???????????.................. "I can do that."
OH, rrreeeaaaallllllyyyyyy, I say. Well I am going to bake an extra cake tomorrow and I am going to let my DH ice a cake and then I will post my husband's cake with his "sharp edges"........
Hopefully it will be a laugh for us but with my luck he will do it.
In the meantime, please offer advice on sharp edges. Thanks!!!!!!!

I think it is just lots and lots of practice to get them nice and sharp. I've never tried any painters tools to make mine and I just used the hot spatula technique yesterday the class I am taking. So I am with you on learning how to make them sharp. You know, yours could be sharper than you think. You know we are always more critical of ourselves than others
BJ,
I have the SAME problem you have. I just can't seem to do it! There was a thread about this a while back and someone posted a link to a visual of it. I will try to attach it to this post. It looks soooo easy, but when I actually try to do it, I just get those darn rounded corners. I guess beebug hit the nail on the head when she said it just takes practice. Oh well, I guess I wasn't much help. I just wanted to let you know that there are more of us round corner people out here!! LOL
