IMO unless you do ALOT of heavily detailed wedding cakes, or want to get into doing them, or already have a very established business, it might not be worth it. Did I read the cost of the class correctly??? $75 registration and tuition $475????????????? Please fill me in if I seem clueless about the cost of classes, but that seems crazily exorbitant to me!! lol
I would only take the Lambeth class if I knew I could recoup some of the cost of the course by making and selling those cakes. And the people that can afford a cake like that don't come along everyday or in pairs!! lol
Gumpaste, on the other hand, can be used on everyday more affordable cakes for most people. And while time consuming to work with, I'm sure, it is probably much quicker and easier to work with than doing all those swags, lace, overpipings, etc. they use with Lambeth technique. Also easier & quicker, in my mind, to make a profit with gumpaste techniques/knowledge, too.
On the other hand - if this is just something you want to do for you for fun, and you've got the $$ to spend on it....GO FOR IT GIRL!!! lol
But I can promise if I tried the Lambeth technique I'd end up with permanently crossed eyes and my fingers and hands stuck in a pastry bag death grip for life!!!! lol
