I have been asked to come up with some ideas for a 1950's themed wedding cake. The bride has told me it will be a casual wedding with a focus on good food and wine, and that they will be dressed in 1950's style. She says she doesn't mind something a little 'out there' as she's not into traditional with flowers. I'd like to give her some ideas for cupcake towers and tiered cakes but I'm so busy this week I'm struggling for creativity! Has anyone ever had a request like this before? Any ideas out there?
Thanks x x
Maybe you can do something with a root beer float look to it, young couples dating sipping on a float together was big in the fifties--at least that's what my mom tells me. Just a suggestion. I am a little out there sometimes so what I think is neat-others don't.
Thanks mama_can_bake for the suggestion, I like the idea of 1950's diner style too. Welcome to CC!
Hi- I have a 50's basement & the diner comes to mind... couple at a booth drinking a root beer float. Black & white tile floor, colors could be black,& teal, or black & red, & white. Juke box,45's for records, poodle anything?? Just some thoughts. Good luck!
Art deco or polka dots come to mind, but it's early here and my brain's not all the way 'on'. Juke box groom's cake, or something to do with saddle shoes or classic cars...
Colette Peters has a great red, black, and white art deco cake in her wedding cakes book.
Here are a couple of cute ones, if you're looking for tiered cakes:
