I have seen a few cakes on here with baby converse shoes, does anyone have a template on how to make these? They are just so adorable, Thanks so much!!!
Sincerely,
Veronica
I made these sneakers a couple of weeks ago using the instructions that wgoat5t posted above. I just wanted to say that the instructions tell you to make little shoe shaped molds out of salt dough to dry your gum paste on. I did not bother with this step. I rolled the gum paste, let it sit for a couple of minutes to stiffen up a little and then assembled it using crumpled plastic wrap to stuff the insides. The only different thing I did was to cut two each of the soles. I assembled the shoe on the sole, let everything dry and then put another sole underneath to give more thickness and stability. They came out great. The picture is not great but you can see them here:

Your pic with the diaper bag and sneakers and so on, is just precious, I love the colors together. I like when there is an unexpected color added to the theme of events, like baby showers are pastels for girls and primary for boys and weddings usually are white, but when there is an added unexpected color, I just think it really makes the cake even greater.
My next question is, can I print off of this forum? I do not have a printer, so I will have to go to the Library, and it will not let me copy and paste to send via e-mail, do any of you know how to do this to where I can get the actual size to print the template?
Thank you so much for responding!!!
Sincerely,
Veronica
Go to the Galleries and do a search for converse shoes, then you can print the templates actual size. You can also find them in the Sketches & Templates section of the Galleries. Good Luck
I never knew there was a sketch and template category. Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Veronica
bakinggirl, that is such an adorable cake. i love the colors too- and the bear is so cute.
If your library's computer runs on Windows you can right click the picture and print it full size. You may have to play around with the scale though. I think my shoes were made 130% of the size in the templates, the originals were very small. You can size up and down on a regular copying machine.
Thanks for your nice comments about my cake, it is nice to hear. I was so disappointed with the pictures, the cake looked so much better in real life. I asked for advice for taking better photos on CC afterwards so hopefully next cake I make I will have better pictures.
I used that template to make my baby converse shoes also. I thought the hardest part was the laces. I found I had to make the tongue of the shoes a little longer and I also made the backs of the shoes a little longer. I also formed mine with crumpled Saran inside.
You can see the cake in my photos. I love how it turned out.
