I want to make a doll cake for my daughter's birthday on Saturday, but can't get time off work on Friday.

I am thinking of preparing the fondant decorations in advance and making the cake on Friday night.

Please advise where I should store the fondant decorations and how long can I keep them. FYI, I live in the tropics with temperature of 86 deg F and very high humidity.

I once tried to keep fondant in the refrigerator and the it sort of like melted away because of the humidity.

Please help.

Thank you.

If you're trying to keep the decorations soft to bend to the shape of the cake, keep them in a sealed plastic bag (they may still dry out though). If you want them to dry hard before they go on the cake, keep them out in the air. I always make decorations ahead of time. Usually they will be dry within 24 hours, unless they're really thick, then they might take more time. They don't need to go in the fridge.

If you want the decor to be soft put them on top of a partchment paper and than inside a ziploc bag, they will dry a little but they will still be soft enough to decorate with them.
If you want the decoration hard I agree with Texas_rose, just keep it outside for the air to dry it. You can live everything outside and fondant wont go bad.
