I had to alter the template a bit to make them taller but it is easy to do. Also, I found the template that I attached to the earlier post needs to be a little longer to overlap. Sorry about that! Anyway I picked up some scrapbook paper and had my way with it. These are the results. I hope everyone that has tried these will post their pictures too. Boy do we need a forum for cupcakes!

I love this idea! What type of adhesive do you use? I tried this and my finished product wasn't as neat.

I used double sided tape.

I wanted to buy them but just couldn't see spending that much and I would have to raise my prices for cupcakes no one would want to pay the extra $1.00 plus allowance for shipping. I am sure the ones you bought are wonderful and you may be able to cut one apart to use as a template. If you do I would like to have a copy of it.

I noticed in the GSA newsletter, they now have the cupcake wrappers, but but they are $12.95 a dozen. There are some pretty designs, but still expensive!

And that doesn't include shipping. I am wondering now if the idea of making your own catches on the price of ones you can order will go down. I did see a lot of single punches at Hobby Lobby yesterday. Yes, it would be time consuming to punch all of them around the edges but I am willing to take the time to save a lot of money and it is something your hubby could help with. Finally something mine can do to help me in a crunch!

I would think that if people don't buy the ready made ones, the price would come down eventually. I really like the idea of making them out of gift wrap or scrapbook paper best, so you can match them up to your cake. I don't make many cupcakes, and sure wouldn't want to pay $1 (that is just too much IMHO) or more for attractive wrappers for them.

I have my first order for the doily ones for a wedding in August! There is no way the expensive ones were within the brides budget and I am thrilled that I can offer a similar look for a lot less!

Those are so pretty! Great job. I almost fell over the other day when I was at the cake store and they were asking almost $1.25 per wrapper....are they kidding? For the love of Mary, the cupcakes are cheaper then the bloody wrappers!

The Dollar store has some kids "goodie bags" and cellophane gift wrap bags. I hope to try them, cut into the wrapper shape- no grease problem with printed cellophane--- and CHEAP. I got a bag of 30 jelly bean style cellophane goody bags for $1. Wouldn't that be cute for Easter?

I have been working on my own version of a cupcake wrapper or collar and I've posted 2 templates in the gallery. PLEASE SOMEBODY try them out and let me know if any changes need to be made--I don't have a clue as to when I will get the time to bake cupcakes again!

Tried them, but I felt they needed to be taller. I used doilies... am looking for something stiffer. Any ideas? I need to make 300 within the next two weeks.

If you are using the 10 inch doilies you can increase the height easily. The Wilton doilies are fairly stiff and work great. You can also use wrapping paper or scrapbook paper. Use decorative edge scissors to cut the top edges and you can also use punches to give them a more delicate look and add the theme shaped punch to the wrapper.

I haven't used foil yet and truthfully, the Wilton white ones have stood cup quiet well.

I've done these before too with doilies from the dollar store. I liked the look but they weren't stiff enough. Then I tried wrapping paper but after cutting out five, I realized it was going to take to long to make the 150 I needed. I never did try the scrapbook paper. I'm gonna have to some day because there is such pretty paper out there.

Here's what I made instead, I got a rythem down and was able to whip them out pretty quickly.
