Hi I made my own template out of cardstock because I dont have a cutter and it worked fairly well but even though I laminated it (covered it in clear tape) it seemed to stick to the NFSC dough. Is this just because I didnt have much time to chill the dough for? What other materials could I use that I could cut easily?

The butter may be clinging to the laminated surface. you can try dusting the template with a bit of cornstarch. I just use cardboard and discard it when I finish the project.
