Hello from Kentucky!! icon_biggrin.gif

I just recently found this site when I was doing a internet search on cake decorating. I was wanting to get some ideas for my kid's birthdays. OMG!! I just fell in love with it here. Everyone is sooo wonderful to share ideas and techniques! All of the gallery photos are just awesome!!! I never thought about all the different ways you could make a cake. You guys have gotten my creative juices flowing. thumbs_up.gif I can't wait to get started!

I'm a stay at home mom of 3 boys ages 15, 13, 9 and a 6 month old daughter. The boys just started back to school today so I'm a little lost without them...but baby girl keeps me very busy!

I wanted to ask (ok...I'm sure that these are stupid questions!!... icon_redface.gif lol)...I really want to try the MMF. It just makes cakes look sooo smooth! I have never used any type of fondant before....so how thin should you roll it out? Is it easy to work with? What is the best thing to use to color it?

Also, I wanted to ask if anyone would mind to e-mail the instructions for the deer head cake. I saw some pictures of it in the gallery. It is just way too cool!! My 15 year-old loves hunting with his grandfather and I think it would be the perfect bday cake for him. He's never gotten a deer before so this way he could finally get one...lol!!

Ok guys....sorry to yak on and on!

Thanks bunches!! Can't wait to meet everyone!

Hi Denise and welcome to cake central. It is a great place. I can help with one of your questions. When you use MMF you will want to color it with paste coloring (Most craft stores carry paste colors) Also when covering a cake with MMF you want it to be about 1/8 of an inch thick.

Hmmm..this is not a straight forward answer, but I make mine thick enough so that when I pick it up it doesn't tear and thin enough that you don't just get a mouthful of mmf when you cut the cakeicon_smile.gif lol

Good Luck - Thaliaicon_smile.gif
